Agree, extreme focus on a narrow market segment can be challenging. I think what pushes Bitcoiners away is not practising what you preach, so gimmicky attempts to hijack BTC for marketing. Conversely, zealotism is going to push away the general segment (same with nostr, I guess)
Just launched https://relay.nip46.com. The relay runs a forked version of bunklay with some security fixes, rate limiting, and additional configuration options. Github repo: https://github.com/Letdown2491/nip46-relay if you want to run your own NIP-46 relay. Super simple setup, and comes with sample .env, Caddyfile, and systemd service to get up and running in like 3 minutes.

New remote signer solution coming tonight or tomorrow as I'm working through a few bugs.
Great stuff man, I will certainly give it a go and try to deploy my own instance!
However, I'm pretty busy next day or two, so may not get to it until Tuesday or so!
Congrats! 3y is an age in cryptospeak.
Hey nostr:npub1syjmjy0dp62dhccq3g97fr87tngvpvzey08llyt6ul58m2zqpzps9wf6wl are you seeing this issue in all jumble instances? The original post has an error when displaying that it can't handle kind 6, then the post looks like it's parsed in a buggy way.
If you view the original post by me, it's fine, however.
Here's a screenshot of what I'm seeing.

we did some zap tests on this note… we made six attempts to⚡zap this note, at arf@zaps.lol, over a period of about 1 hour. six of the zaps were successfully paid... please check for 6 satoshis received. however, we did find that only two of the payments produced zap receipts in time for our server to recognize them. this is a problem because the user who zapped you would not see an active ⚡icon after zapping. they might think the zap failed, and therefore might not zap you again.... also.... your average zap time was 9010ms (9 seconds). we consider this zap time slow... if possible, zaps should be confirmed in under two seconds. (if time is too slow, other nostr users might think your zaps are broken, might not zap you again.) if you wanted to fix this... you could try getting a free rizful lightning address -- https://rizful.com ... if u get it set up, pls reply here so we can do this ⚡zap test again.
I've removed my LN redirector (previously advertised as arf@zaps.lol) and pointed it back to the source wallet arf@rizful.com.
I'm wondering if the redirector had anything to do with the latency.
Would it be possible to test again without the redirected LN?
Thank you for the notice, that is highly interesting! 🙏
yes, but... only if configured to do so!
relay.nostr.band is up... socket is listening, open and serving traffic. A relay down would not have a listening socket and serve the SSL.
Their SSL certificates have expired so no sane client would accept a handshake from it.

chat at which point are we going to remove relay.nostr.band from our relay lists for blastr and other places? :grimace:
#nostr
I realise that my profile mentions #horticulture, but I haven't actually spoken much about that on nostr. One of the things I hope to change in the upcoming year!
For those that know me from other protocols like Farcaster, you'll know that I am an avid gardener, and we grow as much as we can to reduce carbon footprint/distance travelled of our consumed produce, as well as ensure they are grown free of chemicals and other shit.
(To be fair, I also haven't spoken much about my cats, another thing I want to improve in the upcoming year on nostr!)
#gardening

Just found ~150K sats sitting on an old Wallet of Satoshi account.
dis is arfy right now.
(announcing my resignation tomorrow.) 👌😹👌
Well, I'm trying to remain optimistic (and kind) here, but... yeah, it ain't looking pretty brav.
Honestly a scheduled cronjob would've renewed it automatically without any manual intervention needed.
The thing that kinda irks me about the nsec.app & nostr.band expired SSL certs: I've done a quick check, and their SSL cert was issued by Let's Encrypt... so it's not like they need to pay anything to renew it, it's literally free and a quick shell command will renew and install it for you.

I guess I'm just hoping they're travelling off grid, and unable to renew it.
#nostr
Yeah their cert expired a few days before Christmas... nostr.band's relay cert too... it's concerning that such popularly used infrastructure on #nostr hasn't immediately renewed their certs... hopefully soon.
This is so true. I'm also having so much difficulty bringing more of my liquidity onto lightning as I want to bridge and swap alts from various chains into BTC on lightning. It helps #Bitcoin adoption to have these rails, we need to make liquidity flow easier, even if you personally don't believe in other cryptos. We don't believe in fiat yet we all accept on and off ramps are vital to liquidity flows into BTC.
When "too big to fail" is a moat. However, eventually, all moats deteriorate.
