What’s a skill or something worth investing time in that you wish you could tell your younger self or recommend a young person now?
Thanks

I shound distinguish, I’m actually an optician.
We have opticians/optometrist and ophthalmologists.
Opticians and optometrist mean the same thing here
Ophthalmologists are doctors who can prescribe + do surgery
I’m really sorry to hear about your shop. The same problems are coming to Ireland. I’m only young so I would still need to work, that’s probably the only thing putting me off the move
Ireland. I just moved to Malta for 5 months but I couldn’t get enough work so going back to Ireland next week. I’m only in my 20s and have never given Dublin a try. If I was to move again it would be to Costa Rica or El Salvador. I like my job (in small doses) and wouldn’t mind continuing it
Are you an optometrist? So am I. I’ve always considered a move to El Salvador. Do you work as one there or fully ditched it?

💡 "Who Invented Work?"
Have you ever woken up with zero motivation and thought to yourself: "Who the heck invented going to work?"
Or maybe you’re at your job and a colleague sighs, "Ugh, I don’t even know why we work anymore…" Sounds like a joke, but deep down, it reflects a silent resistance and helplessness we feel toward modern labor systems.
🧱 Is work a bad thing?
Actually, no. Work is a byproduct of civilization—a beautiful system of collaboration. Through division of labor, we solve problems, create value, receive fair compensation, and exchange it later for others’ contributions. Everyone benefits.
🏗️ How did it start?
Someone saw an unmet need in the market, started a company, created jobs, and invited people to join. You, as an employee, contribute your time, energy, and skills to help solve real problems. Delivering food, coding, cutting hair, designing logos—each task meets a real demand. In return, you get paid. That’s value exchange in action.
😩 Then why do people hate working?
Because effort doesn’t equal outcome anymore. Inflation silently eats your savings. You work 10 hours a day, but wages grow 3–5% yearly while rent, food, and housing rise 7–10%. You earn in currency, not actual money—currency that can't store worth. You’re not losing because you’re lazy; you’re losing because the system is rigged.
🎰 Forced to invest, just to stay afloat.
Now you must learn to invest—stocks, property, crypto—just to avoid losing everything. But you're not an investor. You're a worker. You’re tired from work, and now your free time goes to researching markets, not resting or family. You’re not greedy. You just don’t want to fall behind. You just don’t want your efforts to mean nothing.
🎯 In summary:
Work isn’t the problem—preserving the value of your work is. If a system punishes value creators, something’s broken. You deserve a fair system. One that respects your effort. One that helps you store the value of your hardwork.

LOL
“Arguing against property rights is just making noises like a savage. Savages are not new to civilization. Human civilization has always found ways to deal with savages, because civilization is far more productive.
Capitalist civilization continues to win because its opponents either fling their feces powerlessly at it, or engage in it to try to fight it, effectively supporting it and pushing it forward” - nostr:nprofile1qqsyx708d0a8d2qt3ku75avjz8vshvlx0v3q97ygpnz0tllzqegxrtgpz3mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujumn0wd68ytnzvuqs7amnwvaz7tmwdaehgu3wd4hk6fd54yl Principles of Econonmics

Why hyperbitcoinisation may happen slower than you think or even never happen.
Max Planck was German theoretical physicist whose discovery of energy quanta won him the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1918.
He once stated:

Happy Easter lad
Question:
Is fiat destroying capital or is it just reducing the rate at which new capital is being produced?
When you take tech like phones and AI it’s hard to say fiat is purely just destroying capital
But when you look at the declining quality of housing, food and clothes it seems justified
Any thoughts?
