live simply, yet fully . love deeply . laugh often

Sad to see people who think they can go around controlling bitcoin companies and bitcoin development like puppeteers. Don’t let them win.

That one time we visited Thailand through the borders many years back - It was a bunch of college friends get together kinda thing. As we were approaching the borders, cars sprinkled with colourful powders were driving out - it still did register in my mind what was going on. We just wanted to grab some good food, get a nice massage and head back. Little did I know we walked right into the Thailand water festival, Songkran. Songkran happens yearly during this time of the year in celebration of Thai New Year and lasts for 3 days.

Everyone was outside on the streets with a pail, water hose, water guns and lots of colourful powders. There were even trucks with huge machine hoses with powerful splashes. People were just dancing and partying on the streets. It didn’t help that one of my friends had a gigantic umbrella to shield us - soon everyone realised we were foreigners there and we became the center of attention. It also didn’t help that I am super light weight. One guy carried me under his arms like a suitcase and put me in a big black water tank. Eventually they came looking for us to apologize because they thought it was funny and we were shocked or rather getting culturally schooled. We did however payback and got them messed up with their own colourful powders.

It was an unexpected day, interesting nevertheless. I’ve visited Thailand at diff points of my life and it has been great each time. If there is a Thailand Nostr/Bitcoin event, don’t forget to experience their culture - that's the best part.

This is a great piece. In big companies, its easy to fall into a routine of process like six sigmas - processes alleviates people from ground zero to an average standard (which is great for sustenance of companies and most people are comfortable here) but it limits those who can go further and make remarkable differences. It must have taken a lot for someone running a big company like that to keep pushing for change and innovate - its that cycle of changes that makes a difference.

Eid Mubarak! How are you celebrating this festivity in your country ?

It's a holiday here today - got a nice sunny day in the park with the dog, some brownies in the oven. Heading over later to visit one of my childhood bestfriend who is a Muslim and get my beef rendang fix. To all celebrating, Eid Mubarak!

Sardine fishes have high omega 3 which reduces inflammation in the body - I have been giving my dog sardine fishes (not the prepacked ones) , Salmon and Cod fish to reduce toxicity and I can see how much more hyper and healthier he is. My mom is also big on fish oil and sees significant improvements on health, i think you both are the same age. Fish oil and seed oil have very diff impact on the body. With seed oil, it also depends on what types of seeds and if you are consuming it directly or processed.

Might just be the motivation you are looking for!

Hi nostr:npub1a2cww4kn9wqte4ry70vyfwqyqvpswksna27rtxd8vty6c74era8sdcw83a , loved the talk you gave at Princeton. I recall a guy who drove up all the way interstate to hear you when he heard on Nostr you will be there. Similarly, it will be a great opportunity for global readers of Broken Money to get more 'upclose and personal on Broken Money by Lyn Alden' hosted on Nostr Nest by Derek. A rogue and real version! Are you game ?

(I'm just bridging ideas here but hope it materializes! )

Good to think outside the box, but what do you mean by a puppet? I think with Nostr, it's typically merit based so if you have an idea you want to explore, feel free to pitch it to relevant folks and see where it goes. I believe if you want to interview the next president, celebrities, athletes, local heros, grassroot devs - just lock in an interview, get the crowd and get rocking. That's how we roll =)

nice, did not realise its free online. I'll share the link here in case anyone is interested in picking it up as well :

interesting pick - as i was reading the reviews, i thought to myself this would make a great movie, only to realise there are several adaptations to it in the last 40 years!

I've read a Chinua Achebe book sometime back, I can't remember which one but I remembered the story telling was pretty powerful. It got me reading more on Nigeria's history. Thanks for sharing

its interesting to read from various perspective. I did a brief book review on the history of nuclear, maybe it might interest you

still trying to finish nostr:npub1a2cww4kn9wqte4ry70vyfwqyqvpswksna27rtxd8vty6c74era8sdcw83a's Broken Money :P I'm close. I just need to pull the trigger.

Nice, any chance there might be a Nostr Nest Broken Money Q&A with nostr:npub1a2cww4kn9wqte4ry70vyfwqyqvpswksna27rtxd8vty6c74era8sdcw83a ? I think that would be really awesome - I know many who have read it and are reading it, and I am sure they have questions, thoughts, opinions. I'd love to listen in. Maybe we can promote on twitter and invite more bitcoiners to join in as well. Maybe Lyn can do some giveaways of signed copies? Random ideas!

What's on your reading list at the moment ? I've got 'The Autobiography of Nelson Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom' on mine for this week.

for what its worth, Benjamin Franklin had his own communications company, printing press (the 18th century equivalent of social media i reckon), wrote many things society were not ready for nor aware about, had a great sense of humour, loved open source - he invented many and patented none, did not have formal education, was a polymath in arts, science, philosophy and eventually became the Founding Father of the US and were among the few influential figures involved in the creation of the US Constitution
