What a family. Grandpa sounds like he was probably cool though.
WAEK UP SHEOPOPLE!

Vecchio's "Afro Rock" is one of the more sought-after library records of the 70s and for good reason. It's a sensational piece of jazz rock, similar in some ways to Mandingo but with a slightly smaller band and more emphasis on soloing. Luis Vecchio did one more album in the late 70s (also worth checking out) and then apparently became something of a con artist according to the comments below a blog post I read on him back in the day. The thread was a strange mix of people lauding "Afro Rock" as the greatest library album of all time and others vowing to piss on his grave because he bilked their grandma out of $50k.

Never forget what they took from us.

I just learned that Peter Brotzmann died recently, which is a damn shame. "Machine Gun" is a monster of an album which strips free jazz of a lot of it's spiritual posturing to revel in sheer aggression and the closing 30 seconds, where the band suddenly lurches into a ragged but distinct theme, is one of the coolest moments in jazz.

Because we are a serfs living in a police state where the ruling class steal our wealth at threat of violence to line their own pockets and fund a regime of constant surveillance more pervasive than Orwell's worst nightmare. That's why, Eva.
Four albums and a comp were released under the Mandingo name but, while all a great, "Primeval Rhythm Of Life" is easily the best.
This is easily the wildest and heaviest big-band funk release of the 1970s. Equal parts Lalo Schiffrin and Sun Ra, it features a wide array of the sort of instruments you'd normally find on an exotica record, along with Moog, guitars and a fat, FAT horn section. I have the quadraphonic version on vinyl but sadly have never had the chance to listen to it through a quad system. Still, even in stereo it's one of the coolest records I own.

Imagining spending the winter there. The Irish monastics are my spiritual heroes.
Sadly, it seems people are more interested in finding ways to monetize Nostr than in improving the user experience.
"Relayer" is the best Yes album and it's not even close.

I love the way they always imply this is just some sort of local anomaly and not a global phenomenon.
Thank you for giving me an excuse to repost this.

My wife deals with a lot of people who claim to be autistic in her job. Based on what she has to say about it, I'm beginning to suspect the whole thing is fake attention seeking behaviour. That and rorting the NDIS.
People who think there won't be any more Indiana Jones films have obviously forgotten about Fred Astaire dancing with a vacuum cleaner.
Of course, I'm just going by second hand reports for all this - I have intention of going anywhere near the place - so please tell me if I'm wrong.
The biggest tell that it was rushed to market is the fact it doesn't even have a feed for followed accounts, and it's funny that Meta clearly thought getting the algo right was a bigger priority than, you know, basic functionality.
Sorry, Zuck says you'll like what you get.
