Nostr definitely has some clear political leanings unrelated to Bitcoin, although some people feel like Nostr can only be advanced by adopting certain political ideologies. You will see this in the way some posters, including some Nostr thought leaders, demonize certain political affiliations or lifestyle choices. This is why the platform is not filled with more power users with more varied interests.
Nostr should be apolitical, but the larger community seems determined to prevent this from happening. TBH, I see more diversity of thought and interests in other online digital communities. The size of Nostr’s user base has nothing to do with this. The number of total users is now in the millions, yet the platform appears very homogeneous in terms of content.
Appearance can definitely be changed. You are only limited by your bank account for that one. Also, technically, the definition of a person’s nationality is the person’s country of citizenship or where they have legal status, so it is not always synonymous with a person’s country of birth.
I get you now…There are no perfect solutions. People can say whatever, but I as a user, may not want to see certain types of content on my global feed. There needs to be a way for me to curate my own online experience without blocking each user individually. Hopefully, the standard will be for companies to be transparent about how their algorithms or tools work.
