Lol. Did he say alcohol? 🤣

I'd say it is a relic from while Nostr was still finding its feet.

It is still finding its feet, but broadcasting is a technical detail that probably shouldn't be anything that users have to think about or care about.

Still, it's there if you need it until someone figures out how to make it obsolete.

In case a relay was offline, or maybe you were offline, or for whatever reason, if your note did not reach a relay you wanted it to, then you can force a rebroadcast to all of your relays with this button.

Another scenario is that you see a post that you like and you just want to help it reach. Reposting is OKAY, but it just signs a note that you "approve of" another note. It doesn't physically help the note reach.

In some cases, you might see a quote post for example but the embedded note is unreachable. By rebroadcasting, you take a note that you have received from maybe 1 relay, and push it forward to all of your other relays.

It helps people searching hashtags and global feeds see the note mostly, but if you engage with it, it also helps your followers too.

Time and education. I am a firm believer that a lot of our advanced knowledge will become "common knowledge" in the future.

It definitely will be for the next gen in my line.

Holy shit I never win anything. 😅🔥🔥

I wanna thank my mum and dad for always believing in me.

And of course my brother Paul.

And of course I want to thank me. I want to thank me for listening to Snoop Dogg thank himself, for never giving up listening to that Snoop Dogg video and watching it 'till the end.

Thank me.

GM. Accounts are the problem. Accounts take what people think of as "technologies" and turn them into products and services where you are the puppet.

Yes. You.

Muppet.

I agree, this is just an open questions and answers platform. Nostr needs to disappear into the background.

We don't call amazon: shopweb, or Spotify: musicweb

This is super powerful. A platform to just ask questions.

I came up with an idea for a name:

aski

2 syllables

ASKUS was taken

Sounds like ASCII which is just about plain text.

Could be called ask I.

Could take off.

This is kinda what I wanted to say 🤣

Like let's talk about "scared to give their political opinions".

People are scared because no one knows where these "boundaries" are, but the penalty for crossing it is quite severe: closed account, banned access, or maybe even harassment by law enforcement.

Some may shout louder than others, but that doesn't mean that one "side" shouts louder than the other, there are timid people on all sides and loud people too. It may not be balanced, but this is good, it let's people see what is going on so they can jump sides if they like.

If you said free speech should not include CSAM for example, I get it. That is a boundary. But to bring up politics is where you clearly show your intent is malicious.

The sad thing is that we live in a society of timid people who want to or need to put their heads down and get on with life. So this type of rhetoric resonates with most people. They think that if the loud people would just shut up, they could say something, but the truth is that it is not boundaries that they need, it is open mindedness followed by conviction gained from learning from their sources, surroundings and others.

No. I just use #Amethyst

Also I was joking in case it wasn't clear. There is no CEO of Nostr. But it is a running joke because he used to (possibly still does) own the nostr.com domain and he helped it develop from the very beginning.
