Gm. I just want to express a thought I just fleshed out.

# Bitcoin is a new industry

#Bitcoin is a natural currency that can be earned directly by spending energy. It isn't issued and distributed by a master or an authority, it is an algorithm that is guarded and protected by people in competition.

Competition is the next important component. More energy does not simply beget more bitcoin, instead, bitcoin is rewarded in a relatively consistent rate over time. Therefore as more people enter this competition, it becomes a race to who can produce the most energy.

But producing more energy is not enough. It costs time and resources to produce energy, and therefore there are two ways to compete effectively:

1. Improve efficiency: both in energy production and energy usage (high efficiency hardware)

2. Find secondary sources of income to subsidise the costs.

The first is interesting because it naturally drives research and advancement into energy production, and has actually driven green energy research much further.

The second method starts to help us realise the real benefits. Bitcoin miners become experts in finding ways to deliver new energy sources, often renewable ones, to society in ways that are useful, in ways that people will pay for.

So bitcoin the currency is a permissionless money. But bitcoin the network is a brand new industrial technology that brings new innovative energy production to society.

Ever send a zap and it takes a minute for their acknowledgement note to get published so you wonder if you'll ever get that sweet, sweet, golden zap icon that says "you zapped them too, good job"?

The suspense is killing. ☠️

Yeah, I was told that bitcoin jumped up 5k recently and checked the charts.

And was like:

You have bestowed upon me generational wealth. I wish only good health upon you and your bloodline. Many thanks good sir.

This shit is moving too fast, I don't have time to check it all out.

I don't have time to touch grass 😭

Same. Except I try to watch what they send, I will engage and comment on the content (as long as I don't need to log in to view it which is often the case)... The hope is that they reciprocate but alas, I bet they don't click any of my links.

I kinda want to put a personal tracker on the links just to know if they saw the content and didn't care, or just didn't care.

Actually, another thing that comes to mind is the recent 4 episode show on Netflix called Adolescence. In that show, they point to discreet cultures online that affect children's behaviors. I'd say that show is a bit extreme, but it does show how parents, teachers, society can be blind to both bullying and manipulation, and maybe you can't prevent it, but how do you even bring anyone to justice in such cases?

I guess my question is... Can't privacy be used as a weapon too? And if so, how can we defend against that?

Here's another example of anonymity being used as a weapon (somewhat funny, somewhat scary): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LwOITqr_fz4

nostr:nprofile1qqs83nn04fezvsu89p8xg7axjwye2u67errat3dx2um725fs7qnrqlgzqtdq0 why do I see two versions of the same app?

My OS just shows the 3.0.0 version installed.

Running GrapheneOS.
