If you select Copy it puts the entire image then does the upload once you paste it. Share only shares the link to the file.
OK, the way I got it to work is... Find the gif you want to use, navigate to it in Safari, long press on the animation and click share (if you select copy then you can paste the gif into Damus but it will do an upload, not desirable). Share to Damus from the menu should work.
Forget tenor.com! The link that Lemon shared should do the trick for you!
You just have to copy the URL of the GIF you choose to use. Click on the icon to the most right that looks like a chainlink, then paste that link in the note.
Which client are you using? And are you on a mobile device?
What's your workflow for posting them? It seems to be working for me, but I am on a desktop using Coracle.
