Get yourself some of these. Search tomato string trellis clips
Installing rails for mounting solar panels. Finally have all of the materials!
Lil PSA for anybody out there building things..
My Home Depot had the buckets of 150 timberlock structural screws on clearance for the price of a 12 pack.
Might be worth checking your store in you’re in the US or Canada.
These are such a cheat code for quick and dirty timber framing or replacing bolts/nuts.

Can you elaborate?
I haven’t noticed anything wrong with fountain except occasionally when I double click my headphones to move ahead it starts the episode over at a slower speed
Anybody have success air layering blueberries?
I’m experimenting with peat wrapped in tin foil after removing cambium to see if they’ll root.
My wife said we needed about 40 more bushes for the kids, and at $25+/per plant at the nursery I’m not trying to drop $1k lol
They’re ugly but hopefully they also deter birds..

No we barter for it at the farmers market. Great for the brain.
They do full intact blocks that you can cut and get a 2nd growth.
Then we throw the spent blocks in wood chip piles
Glad to see Jocko doing a whole pod on preparedness with Mike Glover.
Good considerations for EDC, doing test runs of certain scenarios, and how to generally be more resilient

I’d say anything under 30% should be good. We’re a few hours to the west of you so not exactly sure about Houston. More than that and things might get leggy.
With brassicas (looks like you have kale there) if they get buggy I just pull off all the big leaves, give them to the chickens and let all of the stalks regenerate in fall. If space is at a premium then cut them out and replant with summer veg.
Hope that’s helpful
We had an above ground pool growing up that my dad still maintains. Build a nice deck around it and lattice to grow vines up and it’ll look nice from window views.
As for leaves we put in some 8x8” posts and ran a wire across the length of the pool. Then rig up some shade cloth type materials to create an A to keep leaves out of the pool in fall.
That pool was the backbone of our birthday parties growing up (30+ years ago) and still going strong!
Wish I could’ve made it to the last day of exit and build but this solar system ain’t installing itself

Who else has roof mounted a lot of solar panels? Our house has 2x4 rafters on 24” centers which is not ideal for about 2,000lbs of panels and mounts.
Adding collar ties and struts to beef it up.
Any other ideas?
Today was probably the last cool day in Texas til fall so it had to be done!
One step closer to moving the whole house off grid and only using city power as a backup..

I’d be game, but am not on amethyst. Anyone know how that would work on Damus?
Anyone else heading to Bastrop for the #exitandbuild land summit this weekend?
Got to meet the first people from Nostr last night in the flesh, and hoping to meet some more!
Stoked to see some of the presenters from #Permaculture Voices again, and to hopefully tell #[2] that he’s a jerk!

Oh and the perimeter will be fenced to keep deer out. I think 3 feet is about the most I’d want to reach into a raised bed w access from only one side
Working on a rudimentary 20’x20’ garden design that maxes out bed space but allows for a wheel barrow/garden cart to get in.
These are the best I could think up for the client..
First one is 283 ft/sq with 117 in paths.
Second is 275 ft/sq and 125 in paths.
Any tweaks?

What would y’all do if you had access to a lot of coffee grounds?
I get about 10 bags like these every week or two from a friends coffee shop. They bring beans up from their family farm in Central America, so they’re really high quality.
Our soil here is quite alkaline so I was looking for free ways of acidifying.
So far I’ve top dressed blueberries and other acid loving plants- but they’re maxed out until the new air layers are rooted
Have also been composting the grounds with grass and leaves, adding them to a brushy hugelmound, and sprinkling them into the regular kitchen scrap compost.
We don’t have a worm farm yet since we travel a lot in summer and don’t want them to die.
Would you add them raw to a potting mix?
Any other ideas?

Anyone on here order tree saplings in bulk?
I’ve gotten shipments from Missouri dept of conservation the past few years but am wondering if there’s other states or businesses that offer something similar. Heard Kentucky also has a program.
https://mdc.mo.gov/trees-plants/tree-seedlings/order-seedlings
I always set a remainder for sept 1st when ordering opens back up. Generally they deliver them in early spring.
Hope this is helpful for someone looking for #permaculture or #homesteading trees. ✌️
#grownostr #nostrees
Should’ve said preferably looking for something in the southern states which have trees that can handle a Texas summer.
Thanks y’all!
