Another hot take for today… whenever you find yourself thinking/saying “we need a relay to ______” where blank is something other than relaying or storing events, I invite you to zoom out a bit.
We can develop services, bots, apps, etc. to handle these capabilities, but the strength of nostr is simple, focused relays. 🤔
The more I hear about comparisons between Bluesky vs. Nostr the more I’m convinced that this comparison is not a fair one.
Bluesky will replace the bird app - nostr will (already is) alter how we integrate and deliver software forever. 🤔
I believe there is a place for advertising/marketing whenever there is economic activity - however, the thing we know as online advertising is a different beast than traditional advertising - it has become a sophisticated tracking and surveillance apparatus.
This style of “advertising” has no place on nostr or anywhere else in my opinion. It seems v4v stands as a response to that more than the simple act of selling space on podcast or website.
As such, I think there is room yet to explore what works across different scenarios, but fingerprinting users and forming centralized predictive models of behavior is antithetical to everything we are doing here.

Feeling a little lost this morning …
I’ve read similar sentiments and it makes me wonder how much this feeling is a sense of self-sovereignty that exists here.
No one can stop us from creating notes, and no one is obliged to read them. Consent is woven into the fabric of the architecture, which hasn’t been the way our commutation tech has worked for some time.
I believe this is why nostr feels similar to the early internet. We are actively choosing to allow the technology to serve individuals. This is something only an actually decentralized system can do.

I think this idea has merit.
Would the idea be that the service provider receives the event, then responds back with a nonce the may be used to meet the difficulty?
