Hey! I'm Seb. πŸ‘‹πŸΌ I'm currently exploring ideas for a NOSTR journalling app, and dreaming of owning a stake in a community land project. I'm currently based in Portugal and I'm building my own mobile tiny home. Hopefully to be finished before Christmas!🀞🏼 Say hi 😊

I posted the following in the political discussion telegram group, what are your thoughts?

"Speaking for myself and given the context of the world's affairs at this time, I wish to be as self sufficient, nimble and mobile as possible.

I'm still relatively young (30), so if there is a revolution, further disintegration of the state and EU, further wars, genocides, bank failures, depressions, and any other failures or injustices, I wish only to be able to be in a position that I may protect myself and others through these times.

You talk about not wanting to "throw millions of people into abject poverty" in dealing with our sovereign debt issues, but we face a situation that has no easy outcome.

The country is effectively going into default. The damage has already been done over decades.

There are many ways this can go, but none of them are pretty.

So, I recommend people to move towards self sufficiency as a way to protect as many of their own and their neighbours basic needs and rights as possible.

Financially, I think it is sound to store your wealth in hard bearer assets. Take your pick. But I wouldn't want to have large savings in the bank over the next decade.

Same with property. I wouldn't want to hold a large portion of my wealth in it. Perhaps debt can be good, because with a fast inflating currency, your debt value goes down over time. But that's also risky if you lose your income or don't have the financial means to dig yourself out of a hole.

I would also not want to have only one source of income. My dad used to say "even a stool has 3 legs".

All in all, these are tough times.

At what point will you decide that nobody is going to save you, and maybe you should take care of your own interests (and support your neighbours) while the nation and big corps around us try to siphon away everything we've got?"

I've joined a political discussion telegram group and I'm evangelising Bitcoin to between 100-200 people.

It always surprises me how little a lot of people really know about Bitcoin, most are stuck in the FUD headlines from 5+ years ago.

I really believe one of the best things anyone can do to help Bitcoins cause, is just to talk about it openly with your full conviction without holding back.

No need to push, or go out of your way to talk about it, but if the conversation relates and you would naturally speak about it with other Bitcoiners, then speak your truth.

No need to defend or fight for it even.

I find simply speaking your truth and then inviting people towards some deeper research (providing some links), before leaving in peace and respect, is a powerful way to influence others.

So the other day, nostr:npub1zfs0all2dz43da3gh5ghm53jjaufkqlyvsxydpz73r00hzd2hdaqt3vd2n promised 10k sat zaps to all that boost his job offer:

nostr:nevent1qvzqqqqqqypzqynqlml7569tzmmz30g30hfr99mcnvp7geqvg6z9azx7lwy64wm6qy2hwumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnyv9kh2uewd9hj7qg4waehxw309ahx7um5wghx77r5wghxgetk9uqzqff2cxscqyj5heff285jtsdcan0ec7n87qt8dfmlv2kg2pgmlu0n4glpqp

Understandably the post got swarmed by legit and not so legit accounts and several of my follows did boost.

nostr:npub1vl38mdazffm0u644zj9lqt00lthuqwvnclqdxzvu0y2cvw4s539s3a5l7q even coded a tool to help them find the relevant accounts:

http://bounty-hunter.solajpafistoj.net/

but to this day, only a small selection of users did receive zaps as detected by that tool:

And here are some that did not get zapped:

Of course, nostr is not consistent, so late entrants could always fake the time and claim the bounty. Just be careful to not boost before the OP 🀯.

The tool appears to generate naked hex pub keys, not npubs but I don't see much motivation from nostr:npub1zfs0all2dz43da3gh5ghm53jjaufkqlyvsxydpz73r00hzd2hdaqt3vd2n to resolve these issues.

Is nostr:npub1zfs0all2dz43da3gh5ghm53jjaufkqlyvsxydpz73r00hzd2hdaqt3vd2n scamming us? I don't think so but apparently Sybils got zapped while high profile accounts did not get zapped. I guess fulfilling the promise just went over their head, where they had the honest intention to pay up.

We need better tools and a more robust concept of WoT cause Sybil attacks will only get worse.

I don't personally believe I owe an explanation, as can be seen I paid out some ~400k sats.

But I will echo the point that NOSTR is not consistent. Even in the screenshot you provided of the tool, I know I paid out people that don't show up as paid.

nostr:npub17nd4yu9anyd3004pumgrtazaacujjxwzj36thtqsxskjy0r5urgqf6950x was paid I'm sure, nostr:npub1wmr34t36fy03m8hvgl96zl3znndyzyaqhwmwdtshwmtkg03fetaqhjg240 surely was paid.

The problem I encountered is I lost track of who was paid and who wasn't. I am even sure I double paid somebody.

Each time I took a break, reloaded the pages, switched client, I was asking myself who I paid already. The lists keep reshuffling, accounts came and went from the lists and in the end I was using my own spreadsheet to track.

Honestly, the truth of it is that I got fed up and did not have the time to do the manual labour required to check if all accounts were real, already paid and logging in my personal sheet. Clients load too slowly for me, creating a lot of dead time waiting for loading each user profile before I can even begin my checks.

The way I move forward now, is just to accept that it could have been handled better, so for future zapvertisements I will change my approach.

Setting a total sat limit, asking for a reply to the thread, and setting an end date in the OP would be changes I would make next time.

Up to you if you see me as "scamming". I find it a rather large stretch though, I don't know many scammers parting with 400k sats..

Further, most of my DM's to potential candidates seem to have been lost. So after all this, I am left feeling NOSTR could really do with more user experience consistency somehow.

Thanks anyway Kevin! It seems an unintended consequence of the way NOSTR works means this is still getting reach many days later πŸ˜…

This closed already - but thank you! πŸ™πŸΌ

Wow, you made this?

Any chance you could display the full npubs in their own colunn instead of cutting them off?

This is already very helpful so thank you!

We took the lead! Haha

**For anyone still waiting please do reach out!**

I am actually quite gazumpt at the logistics of hoe to pay this out.

Currently struggling to get a list of everyone who boosted before ~9am UK time yesterday.

If anyone can provide this for me I would be very grateful! πŸ™πŸΌ nostr:note1kw869y59a6vds228f0z3dtg3hlsdwukpfx65e9rcm5d4mmpzhdlqnmt5s0

Sorry it's taking me awhile to figure this out and I took a break to let the notifications die down as all my NOSTR clients were bugging. On Amethyst some people I paid were showing with no zaps still, on other clients I saw different mismatched notifications.

I'll try again today. Thanks for your patience.

This has closed now - Thanks πŸ™πŸΌ

Thanks! Know anybody who may also find this interesting? Or anyone who may be interested to work on it? 😊

Exploring the idea of a fantasy book series that teaches self help practices but as super powers, while teaching the readers real skills of how to do the actual practices.

Below is an outline for a story I wrote today in a kind of flow state, based on Reflective Journalling, called The Mirror Book.

___

### The Mirror Book

The disciple starts off on a path which is not his own. Inherited from his family and his ancestors.

Steeped in tradition, superstitions and family pride, he struggles to know which way to turn. Always leaning on the recommendations of his elders and dutifully following his tribes ways.

But deep down, something doesn't sit right with him.

He can't place his finger on what it is, but nothing feels real. It feels like a performance. For what? Does anyone know?

Then in a quiet and desperate act of courage, he ventures into the most feared place by all of the tribe, in search of meaning and truth.

Within this place, he uncovers a sacred artefact from deep within. (an ancient temple?)

**The Mirror book.**

He gazes into the shining surface of the mirror book, and finds that his own thoughts are being reflected onto the page.

Closing the book, he notices something strange. The reflection of his thoughts on the closing page, are not reflected in reverse as he would expect when viewing text reflected on a mirror.

Looking closer, he notices that some of the words of the reflected text are not the same. His thoughts have been altered.

He finds that his uncertainty has been re-written to display certainty, curiosity? and hope?

His emotions are shown much more precisely and more expressive. Emotions that weren't even part of his normal vocabulary, showed his true feelings with extreme precision and understanding.

When he looks deeper at any particular part, he see's that everything is repeated in a kind of shrinking endless mirror effect.

Only, it isn't repeated. He is viewing the roots for each thought and emotion that led to it. Stretching all the way back to his very core, which is hardly visible from this view, but by looking deeper he is taken by old memories that he had forgotten, gaining more of a sense of who he really is. For a brief moment he feels that his deepest inner conflicts suddenly all make sense.

A chilling noise snaps the boy out of his curious soul searching, signalling that something ferocious and deadly is coming for him. A chill shoots through his spine as if he sensed the physical manifestation of fear itself.

The boy has to escape, using the Mirror book to help him decipher which way will lead him to safety. Only by following his true beliefs and intuition can he hope to survive.

Running and only able to use the book sparingly, he is forced to make decisions faster and faster as the monster closes in behind him.

Each correct turn sends a shining pulse of light out of the book, a wrong turn seems to create the sense of a light being snuffed out. The boy begins to get a sense of what it truly means to follow his intuition - his gut wisdom.

The monster is so close behind now, that he hasn't even got time to glance down into the reflective pages of the book. He sprints with his full force ahead, book clutched tightly under his arms, leaning entirely on his intuition to pull him through the correct pathway.

A final room opens to a single ominous looking door in the centre wall ahead. He's heading straight for it, but something is screaming within him not to go this way. His new sense. His gut feeling. Something about this room, leading into this door was just not right.

At the last moment before flying through the gloomy doorway, he shifted his momentum slightly and planted his left foot squarely onto the surface of the stone archway to the right of the door, kicking himself upwards and to the right, kicking off a second time with his right foot. His left hand shot up in a desperate attempt to reach something, anything. {{Insert dramatic escape}}

...

The Mirror book enables the boy to realise that his future is not with his tribe. That he has a calling to explore and understand the deeper nature of the world they live in, outside of the fearful traditions and superstitions.

The book does not tell him what to do, it only reveals the truth behind his own thoughts. His shadow is shown to him through the book too. Unhealthy desires and ego are plain to see behind each thought by looking in the books reflection.

This story ends, but the serious continues.

In the next chapter, the boy ventures off to find a mentor, who might be able to teach him more about the world and his place within it, than his tribe would ever be able to teach him.

I noticed my battery is going down faster, had no idea it could be Amethyst doing it.

How come? Is it just checking for updates too often or something?

Everyone is on their own journey.

Love, compassion and staying in our own lane is the way. πŸ™πŸΌ

Hey friends, I'm new here πŸ‘‹

As I've seen others saying, I too am getting the same excitement buzz about Nostr that I had when I first discovered Bitcoin.

But I also sense that it's not quite ready yet... Is that my ignorance?

Something's I wonder:

- Who will run the relays?

- For smaller or less active communities, how do we prevent relay downtime?

- How can we access our wallets during relay downtime? Is this only an issue with Ecash?
