Yeah that photo was a good one, phone did all the work. I just clicked and that was what I got, couldn’t repeat it if I tried. Would be a member myself if we were more local, settle for visiting every other year.

We actually went down the Cove for lunch but went to the first little place the Beach Shack (the crab shack was still opening up), had myself the obligatory crab sandwich, it was great. We’d been told to go there by an island expat who now works up in the far north (over the border, where winter is a real season).

Will def be going back down there, Steephill Cove was one of our favourite days out this trip.

Just got stopped, searched, bag strewn on the airport floor on arrival to Germany.

I’m a bit shaken up that was horrid.

The Alsatian sniffer dog was adamant I had something on me.

I know I dont have any drugs so I was trying to be helpful to speed it up. But it’s pretty intimidating when they’re so abrupt and aggressive.

The policeman was a massive cunt though. Threw my stuff on the floor and was the ā€œguilty until proven innocentā€ kind of guy.

ā€œYou have drugs. I am going to find them .ā€

He made me repack my bag in front of the queue leaving the plane.

I held up the queue though and they were all scowling, naturally.

They tested my hands with some swab thing and the lady policemen had to check with the other guy and said ā€œit’s high.ā€

It can’t possibly be the case as I haven’t touched weed since maybe the summer?

Hate to judge but there weren’t a lot of brain cells between them.

But they still weren’t satisfied so i got paraded through past the gate to do a ā€œunderpants searchā€ as they were adamant I had something.

At this point i was like what are my right here, you can’t just strip search someone.

Once we went through the gate though the sniffer dog changed its mind.

It stopped butting my right thigh. Thank fuck for that.

But man. All that coz they thought I had a bit of weed?

Gahhhhh. Jesus wept what a waste of resources. I missed my train and I’m probs gonna go full radicalised.

Fuck the fucking fuckers.

welcome to germany lol

Bloody hell that sounds horrible. Sorry to hear this happened to you, what a welcome!!

Pure grift…it amazes me the mental gymnastics that some Bitcoiners have when they convince themselves he is ā€˜on their team’. The enemy of my enemy isn’t necessarily my friend, when the winds change he would as soon throw Bitcoin under the bus to save his own hide.

Folks need to remember that he is no different than most other politicians, blue or red, self serving.

Nice work, just on book 10 atm. Good by my standards tbh, as I was 1 a year before and pushing for 1 a month this year.

100% agree, even sent it to my father in law who is not a Bitcoiner at all but whom I feel is falling for all the signs of tribalism.

GM….seek and you shall find!

Ditto! Hoping we have some better weather next week, sounds like the remains of the hurricane is heading our way

Thanks, super simple currently. Feedback much appreciated.

Successful second-hand book find moved this one from my ā€œwantā€ to ā€œon the shelfā€.

I’m working on book app built on nostr that I hope to extend to mini social communities (almost chat rooms). That way people don’t have to go to the main feed of Damus or something similar to find conversation.

Open Librarian, have a look see what you think. It is quite basic still, but you get the idea. If you try it maybe spin up a new NSEC, it is early days.

100%, book tracking isn’t a new thing and as you say there are others out there doing something similar.

First difference I am going for is building this on the open social graph that Nostr offers. This has some really interesting opportunities for social engagement, cross-application conversions, avenues for authors to directly connect with and monetise their content. I’ve also built it on the Open Library stack which offers the possibility of getting books into people’s hands as they do have a range of books available to be borrowed. Further out I am looking at how with integrating things like zap.stream it could be possible for authors to have direct video dialogue with fans (book readings, interviews etc.) and maybe even allow independent book sellers to have nostr powered shopfronts in OL.

As for what I think something like Open Librarian can do for Nostr, I believe it could make the protocol more approachable for non-Bitcoiners. I am also thinking that this sort of specialisation is critical to Nostr flourishing, I will not be building the regular fire-hose of kind 1s into the app but am instead thinking about tailoring the view to books (and related) content by maybe using tags for feeds and topic specific ā€˜chat rooms’.

Outside of that I and hoping to strike the balance between fun social book tracking app and not being a drain on people’s time. Let’s face it we’d all like folks to spend more time reading than scrolling the socials!!

I’ll see how it goes. Set myself a challenge of a book a month (very good for me since I was a book a year previously) so will give my verdict in Nov.

Yo nostr:npub1qny3tkh0acurzla8x3zy4nhrjz5zd8l9sy9jys09umwng00manysew95gx when do you think we can expect a similar note from nostr:npub1guh5grefa7vkay4ps6udxg8lrqxg2kgr3qh9n4gduxut64nfxq0q9y6hjy?

Been on my to-read shelf for most of the year, now is the time! nostr:note1tmdv24f5q872fnsdvjs38pa86vxyr9f9k658uq2apcvh5m073mwqsuf726
