The BushRat (Rattus fuscipes) is a small Australian nocturnal animal. An omnivore and one of the most common indigenous species of rat on the continent.

It voting had the power to make any real kind of systemic changes or threatened the power structure in any way it would be outlawed.

Real democracy isn't voting for leaders to represent you and make decisions on your behalf.

Voting for who gets to make decisions out of a group of people selected by political parties only reinforces the system.

If you could vote directly on policy as a citizen we would have collective power as voters, but as it stands our democracy is an illusion. nostr:note1azl6qteutemhftr2tjscu5jl9lfa8r6vvx4sn799px2ypq7v2enq4verys

nostr:npub1yzvxlwp7wawed5vgefwfmugvumtp8c8t0etk3g8sky4n0ndvyxesnxrf8q bug report:

This has been happening lately, the app will reload back to the main page after I've left a comment, and I'm trying to find my way back to those comments but my own notes and replies won't load on my profile.

Usually refreshing the page is enough to fix it, sometimes refreshing the main feed then going back to profile fixes it, today restarting the app isn't fixing it either.

This is my version of "horseshoe theory"

Anything left right above or below is considered extremist by society.

Opinions in the centre are considered centrist

The horseshoe itself is allowable political discourse that won't face censorship.

The horseshoe moves around the political spectrum in different places and different times in history.

Placement is made to reflect the current political policies and discourse in the West.

If you wanna explain Bitcoin to a normie, I just had a random thought about an oversimplified explanation.

The node runners are public libraries run by volunteers.

The miners are like publishers who print the books.

Each library has an identical set of books, the books are just a history of financial transactions.

Mining a block is when a publisher gets paid for printing the next book and how all the publishers and libraries agree on what gets printed and stored.

Does this explanation make enough sense to be helpful to people?

I spoke to a mother today who really believes in Bitcoin. She runs events for Bitcoiners with her daughter, but she is super frustrated because, "Bitcoiners don't spend their bitcoin." She pours her heart out into her events, but she never even breaks even. She has become disheartened in this space and even thinks Bitcoin could fail because it is not being used as a medium of exchange. We should remember that @jack said the same exact thing not too long ago. This mother did recognize Jack and @cashapp's recent efforts to push Bitcoin as a MoE for merchants, and she is hopeful on that front. But I completely understand her concern.

I also spoke recently to a Bitcoin film maker. He poured his heart and soul into a Bitcoin documentary and had high hopes of it going mainstream. He was left in utter disappointment when he came to the realization that his film was not catching on. He told me, "Bitcoiners just aren't sharing it with anyone." How tragic is that?

Bitcoiners really need to put more effort into supporting other Bitcoiners, because no one else will! Normies won't give a shit until they have to! Bitcoiners need to step up!! Share posts from Bitcoin artists and creators. Shop products made by Bitcoiners. Help other Bitcoiners. Build things together. PAY BITCOINERS WHO OFFER VALUE FOR YOU. Stop expecting Bitcoiners to show up and work for free (I'm looking at you, conference organizers...)!!

Thanks for reading my rant. I hope ya'll can share this for visibility. Bitcoiners are cool, but we gotta help each other or we'll be alone forever.

Medium of exchange>store of value.

Hodlers are not bitcoiners, they are just currency investors trying to exploit exchange rates.

People stacking without spending only slow down bitcoin adoption.

Talk to your neighbours, businesses in your community, etc. about Bitcoin, adoption is grassroots, the more people who treat Bitcoin like money the faster real adoption takes place

For a large part of high school and college, my dream was to become a math professor. I loved math, particularly discrete math, like combinatorics, probability and graph theory. There's something about solving, or even understanding a problem that you noodle over for days, usually at the end of many hours of frustration. There's something about developing intuition for certain concepts, seeing patterns that was really attractive.

But I didn't go. I've told myself in the past that it was because I didn't want to and that the life of a professor seemed too grueling and lonely, but if I'm honest, it's because my grades weren't good enough. I goofed off too much in college and coasted through a too many classes.

But looking back, it was a blessing to not have that option. Academia in general and grad school in particular suck. It's a difficult life of moving to where the jobs are, of debasing yourself to fit the mold of the powers that be, full of egos, red tape and politics. And the type of people that graduate PhD programs come out a particular way. You can see it in their eyes. It's like they've lost a bit of their soul.

Academia, like most fiat institutions has that effect on people. It's driven by a zero-sum game of status, where demand remains high despite the economic prospects getting worse and worse.

I bring this up because apparently, the Brown shooter was a grad student. And like many grad students, the system broke him. It's a reminder that as much as it would be nice to have a chance at high status professions like the ones offered in grad school, there's a lot of risk as well, particularly to your soul.

Back in 2019, I got to teach a graduate class at the University of Texas on Bitcoin. I hold no graduate degrees, so the only reason I got to do this was because a couple of the professors there recognized that I was an expert. Sometimes the road less traveled still takes you to where you wanted to go.

If my experience at school was better I would have probably ended up in stem

I enjoyed math, would have liked to pursue chemistry.

Glad it didn't work that that way they, all the money for chemists is in big pharma and weapons manufacturing.

Any blunt object > knife

One good hit to the head. It's over.

Getting stabbed feels like getting punched, most people don't even realise they've been stabbed.

It's why whenever someone uses a knife in self defence they end up in prison.

Hard to explain why you needed to stab someone 20 times in self defence but that's what it takes.

There a lot of innocent things you could carry in your pocket that turn a hammer fist into a lethal blow.

You've heard of the cat distribution system, where a random kitten will just appear on your doorstep.

But have you heard of the goose distribution system? nostr:note1ygcdkurmnl35r89ycjpsule8e5maj0vv9hy7a3ej8an6v3m5gvkqxrj5yq

In east Asia people wear masks all the time.

If you are sick it's a way to reduce the number of other people you infect.

If sick people aren't wearing them, wearing one yourself won't stop you getting sick.

But if sick people do wear them, healthy people get protection without wearing them.

In the west all of our mask crap is backwards

I can't afford a lawyer and i don't trust the court appointed one not to make deals behind my back with the prosecutor.

Reptilians told me to do it

I am insane.

That is my defence

Don't even offer me lsd if the dosage is under 1600ug

I don't want to just see some pretty colours and patterns.

I want to have a life changing experience.

So the files was released, but all the documents have been totally blacked out...

Does the guy on polymarket that bet 80k the files wouldn't be released win the bet considering the files are totally redacted?

Or not?

I hope he got paid out because the "released" files are a joke

Shit coiners and suit coiners arguing as usual.

Why is a fork even bad?

Can anyone explain why forking is bad?

One side wants Bitcoin to be money, the other side wants Bitcoin to ve volunteer data hosting at the node runners expense.

A hard fork would solve the argument.

LET THE NODE RUNNERS DECIDE

On android, still haven't figured out extentions.

Put my nsec into word5 on my browser, that felt like the wrong thing to do. Wavlake seemed safe.

I'll pick one of the signing extensions later today when the sun is shining.

Some dodgy app harvesting nsecs for months or years before using them for whatever malicious intent is something I thought could be an issue when I first got here, a random thought I had after learning about the vibe coding nostr apps.

Here's your chance to start playing.

This video hasn't been tagged yet.

I'm leaving this one for someone else.

I don't understand why this isn't more popular, it's kinda fun. I'm not in it for the 5sats or whatever it is I win each week, I just want to be number one on the leaderboard. But I need a difficulty increase there aren't enough people playing. nostr:note1qqqqengz8ve0ke9zjyhtsjgxsa4pu6dwfwnex2qyfrr247ktu4hsprefn2

I have a #BIP idea, hear me out.

Spammers pay the node runners for hosting.

Wanna upload monkey pictures? Every node runner gets one sat per whatever amount of data people agree on.

Is this idea stupid? Does anyone wanna share that "i just learnt about Bitcoin and I'm here to fix it" meme?

#asknostr

It's just a random idea, tear it to bits, explain why it wouldn't work.

#core30 #knots #Bitcoin

Instead of making node runners pay to be volunteer data hosters,

My proposal is pay them for it.

The people doing the most important job are volunteering.

Node runners invest their own time and money into hardware and maintaining an internet connection.

And I know this is a hard fork or whatever, but Bitcoin has been through that, the node runners can decide which chain to continue maintaining.

Maybe a hard fork is what Bitcoin actually needs? What if there's a longer term forking cycle nobody has noticed before because we're only repeating the cycle now for the second time?

Man why didn't I know about this earlier nostr:note178m42wzer7kmdaj2nkxpr9ll6yr7cw4vxgp0wc6l04j47u9pv2tskjajw2

If the label says no added sugar, good.

If the label says no sugar, bad.

Influencers push a product or opinion on behalf of someone else.

To me it's synonymous with being a sellout.

But I know other people use the term to refer to popular content creators as well once they make it big.

But I don't consider having influence to make someone an influencer.

I'm not worried about it going to 0

More worried about the public perception, KYC, other regulatory threats, possibility of a fork.

And just the general toxicity in the community.

It's the gold standard crypto, but I'm keeping an open mind about alternatives.

Will continue accumulating sats as part of my savings, it's still a better option than saving in fiat.

Who else here is physically repulsed the moment Ben Shapiro starts speaking?

He gives me the ick.

I feel like this wouldn't be that difficult to make.

If the people building the robots stopped trying to make the robots humanoid and put function first instead.

like just make a large romba with some mechanical arms so it can load and unload washing and turn the washing machine on and off, if you had a dryer it could do that too.

Maybe the arms could have an attachment with something for wiping down surfaces.

Why isn't this a thing already.

Just make sure it can run offline.

Those plush robots for doing chores are actually controlled remotely.

Couldn't figure out how to log in. I uploaded a video, seemed to work

I love the idea of this being the place for artists.

Wavlake itself could be improved in a number of ways regarding user experience.

Multiple trending feeds would make a huge difference, group songs by similar genres with individual trending feeds, label AI and allow people to hide it.

And allow people to post and reply to regular notes like a normal nostr client.

I think that would be enough, people wouldn't even need to know about Nostr, they would just be migrating from Spotify to a better music streaming app with social features.

Entry to what? What product or service do they provide?

Why would anyone invest in company stocks for holding Bitcoin when they can hold their own Bitcoin?

Unless you got the autism to be a successful day trader, these companies aren't worth investing in.

If they're not making a product or providing a service they're going to fail long term while only a few early investors get rich at the expense of later investors.

My first thought.

I can barely remember the Iraq war but I watched something on YouTube recently comparing all the propaganda for military intervention and the dictators themselves.

Maduro has the exact same moustache as Saddam, same fashion taste, same hat only a different colour, both sitting on oil reserves the multinationals want to exploit.

Both had an affinity for swords.

It was very interesting.

Private key harvesting apps, which turn accounts into automated spam bots.

Something like that could be a real risk if it became popular.

Assuming the individual(s) behind the app(s) are thinking long term, a handful of their apps get semi popular and harvest a few thousand private keys each over a matter of months or years.

Then one day, our entire feeds are full of advertising or gore or something and a large number of people have to restart building their accounts.

That's the biggest risk i think.

Every Nostr event leaves me fired up and even more bullish on all of you, on this community and everything we’re building together. We’re connected by more than random npubs and shared cryptography. We’re more than just GMs and PVs.

We’re a social layer, a collective of people who see the world clearly and understand what the future can become if we keep pushing.

So we build.

We build software.

We build services.

We build content.

We build relationships.

I met so many amazing Nostriches and Bitcoiners last week. Some for the first time, and others I hadn’t seen in far too long. Thank you all for the memories and an incredible week. My family and I loved every moment we spent with you.
