'All fake for the ad $$$' -- My primary reason for abstaining from social media for the last decade -- the sheer depth and breadth of blatant, "interested," falsehoods, established by privately owned 'corp media' and perpetuated in the childish, trite, echo-chambers, that the vast majority of 'social media' hubs/apps/products have become. -- Nostr & #Bitcoin can change this.

I think as the on-boarding experience continues to get smoother and smoother and a larger proportion of the population experiences Nostr and shares with their social circle - we will see an organic broadening of the types of content and subjects discussed. -- Right now the 'bitcoin-centric information density' metric on Nostr is quite high, which makes alot of sense given that the initial energetic impetus and community that has picked up the torch of development and adoption are largely from the #Bitcoin & crypto community -- that said, as the social circles grow as will the number and variety of inputs and contributions. -- Amazon starts as a 'bookstore' and eventually sells toothpaste....

I find this 'conundrum' and/or rumination resonant, as I too have largely abstained from social media for the better part of the last decade and more.... -- I've peripherally observed the decline of exchange and in the quality of thought and content. It feels, that the stage has been so unfortunately and set, and our populace primed to blindly accept things that ..... staggeringly, and obviously absurd and/or wrong. -- I had early on adopted a personal policy of a sort of 'Damnatio memoriae' with respect to those ideas and the individuals who perpetuate them - which is to say, to not share in the public hue and cry...and the ...creation of occasion and argument for engagement...and the sowing of fertile soil for broad and damaging 'troll-ery.' --- In this time and general context, and with the global consequence of macro happenstance and advancement...I think...it has become imperative to engage in dialogue -- the experiment of drowning out the obvious idiots with silence bears no fruit when so many would suffer fools .... Which is to say, I feel that Nostr provides potentially the tools and context to engage in fruitful and productive engagement, and gradually foster and favor signal over noise. -- Or so, I hope.

I appreciate these perspectives; I think the key might be to continue to build what 'bitcoin culture' means, implies, is immediately associated with. -- I do think there has been something of an effort to associate #bitcoin with a particular cultural leaning, and I agree that, that would certainly not be productive, nor I suspect, possible. Precisely because of the unbiased virtues of the protocol, distributed ledger, blockchain, and the potential. Bitcoin and its future will be written, manifested, and chosen by all - these are early days and 'interesting times.'
