If we want to improve pleb mining we need to make it profitable, not sexy.

Bitcoin mining is an intustrial enterprise and a bitcoin miner is a piece of industrial equipment. This is why I like learning on an S9.

If we educate the plebs at home they can bring it to scale profitably in as many places as possible around the world.

I agree go with S9. It won't be sexy, but mining isn't supposed to be sexy.

I get you, but keep in mind that S9s are so cheap that even if you only fire it up as a learning tool, you may be able to justify the cost.

having spent some time on Threads, i actually think it will be successful.

its success though isn’t in anything that Nostr is trying to achieve.

instead, Threads seems to be focused on a conversation around influencers (celebrity and NFT promoters) the same way that twitter (used to) be a conversation around news and the journalists reporting on it.

in fact, this seems to be a secular trend of fracturing of social media platforms generally that probably has been ongoing since the rise of facebook.

where twitter used to be all-purpose, it’s now:

Twitter: laggards and Musk loyalists

Bluesky: journalists and liberals

Nostr: bitcoiners and cypherpunks

Threads: influencers (celebrities, NFTs)

Farcaster: ethereans

Truth social, Gab: qAnon, MAGA, xenophobia

i think this is the new normal for social media. RIP the general purpose platform.

Maintaining muscle mass is important though. Lots of old people die due to falls and the subsequent complications, all down to loss of strength in their lower half.

This is mostly crap advice. Human body has evolved for physical activity. Healthy amount of muscle is strongly correlated with longevity and high quality of life. Hunter-gatherers have naturally muscular physiques and they have a lot of "exercise" naturally.

Everything is permanent in Nostr.
