I can't stand politics but I am forced to pay attention because it affects my life and the lives of everyone else in our country and the world. Apathy isn't an option. I would love it if we could end all forms of corruption too. Sigh.
They taste good though. Healthy red meat.
This applies to humans too.
Yep, bandwagon and network effects not here yet. There are plenty of other decentralized social media apps too. I have to finish exploring all of them to decide where I truly wanna be.
Cape Town, South Africa
Still have Facebook but not the app and not messenger. Inactive account and have instagram. All of my friends, family, acquaintances and people I find interesting are still on instagram which makes it hard to leave. Contrary to popular belief, instagram isn't just for vain pictures and videos. I've learned a lot on that app and made new friends on there that are now real life friends too. Everyone is respectful on there as I've never had a bad experience. There are so many communities and sub communities on there too. Something for everyone and then some. I've also had shallow and in depth conversations with people in the comments section of posts so it does facilitate valuable discourse too. As with any tech, it depends on you and how you use it.
From now on, for me, every conspiracy theory is on the table until it's off the table. 😶
I highly recommend living in other countries and then tell us what your assessment is.
We should be able to link more than one url to our profiles.
Of course, I've introduced Bitcoin as an alternative and it's a great option for those who listen. Some exchanges take 1-3 days to transfer funds from traditional banks to thr exchanges so timing is still a problem if ppl don't already own btc.
nostr:npub1a2cww4kn9wqte4ry70vyfwqyqvpswksna27rtxd8vty6c74era8sdcw83a Can't tell you how many times normal working folks have tried to send money to each other and it gets flagged for money laundering with no proof even though its maintenance or gifts. Mostly an issue when sending money to or out of South Africa. The local banks and SARS are to blame.
Balancing Rocks of the Zimbabwe Dollar
Harare, Zimbabwe
These naturally balancing rocks were pictured on every Zimbabwean banknote, up to the 100 trillion-dollar note.

I, too, care that support is given directly to the devs. The process should be as transparent ans fair as possible.
Maybe the alternative(s) are just better and develop faster hence the lopsided support.
