I'm here to break the trend though and put my vote in for Coldcard.

I think it's quite difficult for small businesses to do well with nostr at it's present state.

Social media like Instagram, Facebook, etc helps small business grow by reaching intended untapped audiences but without an algorithm to guide new customers into finding them, it is really difficult.

Nostr is good for small businesses to maintain and connect with their existing customer base though. I think the connection on Nostr is much more authentic and intimate. Partially because of its small size and "early internet" feels and partially because of the immediacy and direct nature of zaps.

absolutely! people tend to underestimate how much sleep and recovery is just as important as working out. have to balance both.

I once stood in line at a night market food fair in the States. One of those "bring Asian culture to the west" type events. We were in a very long line for takoyaki and behind us was a young couple on a date.

Her: what this line for?

Him: hmm.. the sign says takoyaki

Her: oh... what's that?

Him: I dunno. probably some kind of taco?

Her: cool! I love tacos!

And then they had a cute little conversation about their favorite tacos. adobada, carnitas, etc.

We ended up telling them what takoyaki was. It was really cute that both of them were even more excited to try it 😆

I need to do this! I get so lazy about it 😭

Tomahawk Steak 🔥 🍖 🤤 how we got this thicc steak absolutely delicious below the photo.

We did Mother's Day part 2 tonight since we still had more to grill.

First, sous vide the steak. We did 125F for a couple hours. After getting it out of the bag, pat it dry and then give it a little massage with salt to season it.

Next, get the grill hot hot and sear to finish. Then take it off and let the meat rest.

Resting is important and makes the texture of the meat tender. Don't skip this part!

Slice and eat with salt and pepper. If you eat at our house, Mom's super secret black pepper steak sauce will be on the table too.

Put the fatty bits, tendony bids and bone back on the grill for extra crispening.

When you live in the tropics, the orchids live outside!

Grandma gets a lot of orchids as gifts. Its a very popular item for showing respect to elders. The beautiful blooms last a long time in the house but when they fall, grandma brings them outside to live with all the other plants on her balcony garden.

Since the climate in Taiwan is humid and rainy, orchids thrive outside with little work. Her collection out here is huge and on a good day, she'll tell you the stories of how they came to her.

This morning we had the first roleplaying game session to play test a new system designed to focus on collaborative storytelling and less on crunchy combat calculations.

The setting is a pre-Bronze age empire inspired by the Mayans coming into first contact with Spanish-inspired colonists.

Our group is a mix of ttrpg veterans and absolute first-timers so it will be a really great experience and opportunity to hone the system even more.

Today was introduction of the system and character creation. I'll be writing up my character sheet and backstory this week. So excited to finally play the game!

Fish is a staple protein in Taiwan. We are an island nation after all. This is a very typical home cooked preparation. Just pan fried with salt and oil 🤤
