I'm down a pair of fiskars hand pruners (fortunately it was my backup pair with the spring missing) and my loppers and shears are dulled.
But.
It's really great to watch my boys figuring out the kinesthetics of cutting things. The 4yo will get the lopper jaws onto a branch/trunk, brace one handle against his hips and use both arms to pull the other handle in to make the cut.
4 yo: I'm going to cut thistle with my scissors
Wife: they might be pokey, be careful
4 yo: No. They aren't so pokey on the bottom.
The kid has recognized this on his own. I'm a proud papa.

I miss those wineberries. They were everywhere where I grew up in SE PA. If you happen upon them toward the end of the fruit being ripe they taste a little boozey (hence the name).
That is good.
Two pieces were a little dry, but that was my fault for being distracted at the end. It seems like there's a very small window for perfect. The thick parts were good. With practice I think this will be great.

I was talking with a coworker about the state of the country. We arrived at the conclusion that Joe Biden is an apt representation of where America is in the cycle of empire. We're old and senile, but we don't know it. If we do, we won't admit it. It's fitting that, as the world changes and the "new American century" seizes up, the likely options for president are older approaching their terms than any president has been leaving office.
I wish government's would shrink, it seems against their nature and their purpose.
