As of today, I guess you can't read twitter feeds anymore without an account and signing in. Never had an account and will not get one. I will miss some of the people who I have followed from the outside. If it was ever time to dump twitter, now would be it.
If you want to have some fun and waste an afternoon, see if you can get my PDP-8 emulator working on your iPad...

Try to run Lunar Lander.
I would, but I still have some lead paint in the shed that needs to be used up.
You think it matters? All that matters is who counts the votes. RFK is a lesser evil, kind of like Trump was. Evil, but lesser.
My post was pretty far off topic. I was reacting to the thought that people are still sending their children off to the school system every day, not at all aware what is happening there. Anyone that has young children, watch out that the system is not subverting them without your knowing it. Home school your children if at all possible. The transgender movement is twisted. I'm sure all areas are not the same, but where I live, sending kids to school is like pitching them into a fire.
You cannot have a rational honest conversation with the people pushing the gender disphoria. It all comes down to an evil agenda that goes back to the beginning of man.
Yes, everyone has free will and can do whatever they want. But not all things are good for you. Sending children off to gov schools is about the same as cutting off your own member. Either way your ability to raise children will be gone. A good place to start is 1Cor6:12, and then just keep on going.
Pros and cons abound. If you just want to be able to cook consistently and clean easy... get a non stick but the key is the thickness of the pan. Cheap thin pans get hot fast and burn everything (including the coating). Find one that is >= 3/16" thk. Never use anything metal as a spatula... heat rated rubber only! It wont last forever like cast iron, but sure cooked my breakfast nicely. Keep data from turning panckaes with a butter knife :)
Quick read: Vinay Prasad is a hack.
Bud, what is normal? In today's world I want nothing to do with normal.
Everyone send one-liners and zingers to Will for his use in interviews. Get people with a voice to interview Will, get people with reach to write about this and boost Will and Damus all over the place, while shaming Apple for such hypocritical conduct.
This is not about zaps, this is just about crushing anything with real decentralization. Just keep building, the more Apple and others try to crush it, the more people will want it, and the more exposure Will and other devs will get.
Write catch phrases that expose the Apple hipocrasy, and use them when you are up on the podium. It's an opportunity Will !
"FBI Warns..."
FBI are the malevolent actors. Anything reported, anywhere, that originates with the fbi is automatically NOT CREDIBLE.
Days are comming when the masses will start to understand why nostr is so important. It's a 'brave new world', and Nostr is the antidote. Build incorruptable tech. Never compromise.
Surveillance technology can be too good at its job if you don't actively put controls in place. As discussed in the below article, we prefer not to use cameras that rely on cloud syncing. It's often more of a security trade-off than people realize.
FTC: Ring employees viewed customer cameras, spied on them

Zoneminder is free and open source. Can't imagine trusting ring.
Same wavelength here my friend, love the note. All the best!
I reviewed the code weeks ago, but never posted what I found: looks like the holepuch framework is open, but keet is not.
Is anyone aware of an open source chat client using the holepunch framework?
You cannot be responsible for stupid parents. Thank you for publishing Amethyst open source.
Actually, I think the reporting function is pretty good in Amethyst. It does everything to get people to Block instead of reporting, which I think is a good call by nostr:npub1max2lm5977tkj4zc28djq25g2muzmjgh2jqf83mq7vy539hfs7eqgec4et at the time.
> Are you so sure this is the right way for users to engage in content filtering? By not being able to engage in it, but being dependent on someone else to have the same opinion as you?
I am not sure which filter you are talking about, but if it is a Report it does allow people to engage with it (it shows the "Show Anyway" button). If it is simple dumb spam, then the idea is to be temporary until those duplicates disappear. It can be better for sure, but somebody needs to spend time developing it.
> Instead, focus rather on a simplified content boosting approach, instead of content filtering.
We have more tools to boost content than to block it. So we are focusing on content boosting. But filtering is a necessity. No one wants the dick pics or non-family-friendly content when setting up their kid's accounts.
The majority of these features were developed because users didn't feel comfortable onboarding their own friends in the network. That feeling is changing but it's taking us a while to give them the confidence (and tools) to onboard others.
"... when setting up their kid's accounts... "
Wow... if amethyst is an app for kids you should say so. There is not going to be enough filtering possible for loving parents to allow their kids use nostr. Parents might as well drop the kids off in time square and tell them to find their way home by dark.
I can't help but wonder if you really indend amethyst to be used by children or if you are just responding with the most emotional thing you can think of to win an argument.
Nuf said, I have uninstalled amethyst and will try iris for a while. Plebstr looks great but nobody should use it, or anything closed source. My kids are on see-n-say and will not be using amehtyst either.
It's too harsh. A lot of posts are being silenced. I started to try plebstr, but its closed source so NO. The fork is going to cost you all your users vitor.
Well said. I have seen those who say 'F' your freedom, and 'F' your free speech. I say open everything up and oust the greedy. Whoever does not want to work, neither let them eat. I would rather give away my IP and work til I die than have some greedy elites steal it away to call it theirs, with hooks in me saying I am not allowed to use it at all.
Distributed open source is a real threat to the rich elite. The massess will pass them up and they know it. Their diversity hires can't code their way out of a fruity loop, and the plebs paying attention are tired of being expoited. This sort of speech is bad for them. It's the sort of thing that gets shadow banned on the bird app, and elsewhere. Nostr changes that. I encourage those with other views to "prove me wrong"
