The world map as we know it, is a lie. Common maps use the "Mercator Projection".

The problem is, the further from the equator, the more 'oversized' land appears on the map. Look at the Mercator (common map) size of Greenland, vs its actual size. Now see Africa. Talk about a distorted world view. 🤯

Don't worry too much. The drive responds, the drive recognizes. Major plusses. Looks like signing/auth issue. Bad ejection, etc.

Looks like high chance of recovery bud. 🤞

Here's a SUPER old documentation from SeaGate. Like Windows XP/7 old, but some settings may still apply on Win 10/11 in different settings menus.

Seems like a signing issue of some sort. Keep digging into "access denied external HD error".

There were some other "download this to fix files" tools on a quick Google. I would NOT, absolutely NOT trust or use them.

I would only trust manufacturer docs, specifically SeaGate, or similar (WesterDigital, Samsung, etc). Or Window docs.

As for the scan, it's been started so not much you can do. Give it more time. If it doesn't respond in 4-6hr I'd call it stuck and a failed attempt. No more scans IMO.

If unable to solve in a non-invasive solution manner, Brandon Computers appears to do Data Recovery. Also TecFix and TrueData in Winnipeg. The less you tamper, the higher their success rates. FWIW, I'll disassemble computers without hesitation, but I won't touch data recovery. Delicate finicky beast.

Good luck man!

Good signs. Appears to be SSD.

Sounds encryption based. Did someone add a password? Was a password on it?

Do you get the same symptom when connected to any other devices? Not sure how I'd handle the scan you're stuck in now....

That's why. haha

The less tampering the better until the exact problem is identified. What kind of drive? Lighting up (on the drive itself)? Computer recognizing the drive at least, just not populating files?

This, only work on the copy. Data recovery guys are actually really successful, but expensive.

I wouldn't run any scans. Are computers recognizing the drive at all? Does the external HD light up/show response?

Flash drive? SSD? M.2? Spinny disk drive?

What about the Nostr scaling issue? Relays are not rewarded (to my knowledge). This is not sustainable. Nothing in life is free. It's fine with 20k WAU, but not at mainstream penetration.

Also paid relays are not the solution. No one wants to pay to play. That's not "free" speech, literally.

There needs to be some Tokenization to incentivize relays, and even incorporate clients into the mix. Other proposed solutions?

So..

nostr:npub1sn0wdenkukak0d9dfczzeacvhkrgz92ak56egt7vdgzn8pv2wfqqhrjdv9 wants bitcoin to be private by default for everyone, without jumping through hoops.

What’s the solution?

Doesn't need to be private, pseudonymous is plenty.

Gov can track it all they want. Tracking does nothing for them. What matters is they can't touch it without showing up to your door. Can't show up to every door during a currency collapse.

Ahh "FOR THE FIRST TIME". Missed this important part. Fair enough, fake it til you make it.

Why TF would someone be ashamed of that?

nostr:npub1sg6plzptd64u62a878hep2kev88swjh3tw00gjsfl8f237lmu63q0uf63m iOS vs Android. The gatekeeping by the App Store, or any store for that matter, is a threat that undermines decentralization. All decentralized apps in the world will not help, if we cannot get apps running on mobile without these stores. Relying on web only is not a valid solution. Do you see a way out?

Android is easy, direct APK download or 3rd party app store.

iOS I stopped building for. Too much BS. But are there no 3rd party, non-jailbreak iOS app stores/install methods? We used Diawi back in the day for IPA installs during testing. Suggestions, Apple crew?
