How make world good?

Agree. Sound money cant exist without some cost to the world. However, worth some napkin ChatGPTing to compare.

Bitcoin total energy use and ASICs was ballparked around $7-13B annually.

A price of $75/Oz for 600 million Oz of silver per year use in industry is $45B.

A price of $4500/oz for 10 million oz of gold per year use in industry is $45B as well.

Costs to mine Gold and silver are ~$150B and $20B annually.

Also this is not considering some percentage of bitcoin mining is done on energy that does not compete very directly with the broader market (renewables generating excess).

I agree with that at federal levels but not at local levels. My town's government works admirably with a small budget. Builds what they need to build. Polices reasonably. Legitimately listens to you if you speak to legislators.

The larger the scale of government. The more distant the Representative is from you. The more frought with debt and ineffective policy they tend to be.

So nostr:npub12rv5lskctqxxs2c8rf2zlzc7xx3qpvzs3w4etgemauy9thegr43sf485vg you want to take credit for a violent group of terrorists who are destroying Madagascars electricity and water infrastructure "in response to electricity load shedding"

Seriously?

It's a decentralized protocol.

Would you expect that the average person in Gaza right now has an easy way to transact in bitcoin and the knowledge of how to do it?

This was unclear to me. It says crypto that is backed by real assets. Would they mean for that to allow for bitcoin or not? Sure, some may view bitcoin as backed by energy, but you could certainly see a government not interpreting it that way.

Yes but having more willing buyers of your debt makes it much more affordable than if they weren't there.

I don't understand this as common advice for bitcoiners. There are so few in the world, if they all avoid people who don't understand it, they will form a small echo chamber.

Seems so ideologically weak and timid. Go be with socialists and state-lovers. Test your ideas. Steelman theirs.

I hope monero finds success, and think it can hold a place for itself in the long term, particularly if market demand for privacy grows and future bitcoin solutions fail to fill the gap.

I was on the island for the first time via ferry today. I take it this was unfortunate timing for me?

This is the free market finding a way to deploy security services when tax dollars are failing. Need to get this guy on bitcoin and tip for protecting people.

Because nobody uses them. Running a node for these at high adoption levels would be a problem for plebs. Monero seems to offer potential utility in privacy but the doge tradeoff is one of a million coins centralizing node control for txn throughput.

Upon further research nostr:nprofile1qqsgumguw35fgh97x7w96z8etxlstdkrd3kppvnzatp3veff2rh4j7cprpmhxue69uhkummnw3ezucnfw33k76twwehzu6t0qy2hwumn8ghj7mn0wd68yetvd96x2uewdaexwqg4waehxw309aex2mrp0yhxgctdw4eju6t09ul6ae0x exists! Maybe more bitcoin activity than I was able to recognize as a noobie westerner.

Thanks for what you do Joe! Hoping to use your content in the future when traveling to find cool bitcoiners around the world.

Is unencumbered just another way of saying self custodied with no obligations?

I would wager youre well intended but you can see why this may not be the right type of thing to take to DMs. Yeah?

Can we not just direct OP to some videos?

I hate foreign wars so badly I would consider taking days off and traveling to Washington to march.

I've been the guy arguing the ancap side of who will build the roads but fuck it all man. I haaaaate that I'm paying tax dollars for such an evil thing. I would vote for Bernie. Nationalize the Healthcare system. Eat the rich. Do whatever. I no longer give a fuck. No wars.

Oh snap. Haven't seen this yet. Without watching though. Massive props to anyone willing to debate either side of bitcoin. Its massively beneficial to humanity and takes guts to do.

Yo am I tripping or is the possibility of a remittance tax not one of the most massive things that could happen for non custodial lightning?

I know its not law yet but its kinna close to it.

Yall having any discussions on how you would react to it?

Could be one of the most massive catalysts for onboarding. Am I missing anything?
