Cheers! I'm most interested about users on the network. Like building anything for web you want to understand your users and what devices they have so you can optimize your UX. Same here, if users mostly using clients that hide long form, then best to hack up a solution with type-1 notes only.

I wonder if there are any stats anywhere on client usage by % of total users.

Niel are there clients out there now that allow users to treat relays in this way?

I'm loosely aware that anyone can choose to treat a relay that way already. So, I'm guessing it's the client UX is the main hurdle?

Relays as communities also aligns with team relays for companies and organizations and with relays for individuals. One person or many people you have a relay for your needs.

Awesome. I think I've been missing the auto complete from my workflow entirely. And, I certainly didn't realize I could specify different models for different uses contemporaneously.

I'm thinking of all kinds of other async uses cases where speed is a non-issue too. Anything agentic, anything backlogged. Lots of scope

Melvin did I also hear of the idea of a proxy relay? Where you connect your client to your own relay, where that relay is just pulling and storing events from your longer list of other relays?

So rather than 1:many it's 1:1:many

Would that also allow users to get notes from the network in an async way?

(I need to study ditto more)

I don't know if my situation is primal censoring, but is rather more about support for note types.

Noticed that my long form notes don't appear in every client, e.g. they are absent from Primal. Is there a good accepted method for working with that? #asknostr

I guess I could create and post a separate note with the picture and slug with link to a third-party site?

First draft of a blog at https://rodbishop.npub.pro/ - online in just a few clicks with nostr:nprofile1qqsq36k72r04rkj2gt6acpz7xkehrypwqmt2spfpt0kr6ukudp7vkpqpzamhxue69uhhyetvv9ujumn0wd68ytnzv9hxgtc9yx07r ... Almost too fast. Oh well, "ship early and often".

My honest belief is the only actual limitation to the life I live would be a really tough passport to travel on (in saying that I have met people travelling on passports from almost everywhere, it's just a lot harder for a person / family with a passport from a country with lots of visa requirements.

We were a one income family. My husband drove trucks 60 hours a week in Australia (not a cheap country).

We rented out a spare bedroom. We sold everything we owned (not much, we didn't have assets or own a home, no fancy car) left with 3 kids and fuck all money. We almost ran out.

And we were stuck in a foreign country with no way home because our borders were closed. As our funds went down, I found a way to teach English online for $10 usd an hour. Eventually I got sick of travelling with hardly any time or money. And then I found a great remote job.

My point is, If you want it badly enough you'll sell everything, cancel every subscription service you have. You'll save every cent, no takeout, no wastage. You'll take every opportunity to learn some skills that might help you abroad. And you'll find you have enough to buy your ticket (even if it's only domestic or close by local if you have difficult visa restrictions). And then you save a bit longer and you go. It doesn't have to be complicated.

We are by no means financially more wealthy than any average western world family. I didn't win lotto, sell a big tech company or gain some kind of inheritance. I'm just a normal everyday human. My main difference to the standard family is we don't buy stuff, we never owned cars on finance and we were always living on a strict budget that allowed us to save.

I dare you to challenge your limiting belief (if travel is something you actually want to do) ๐Ÿ™

Have you told your story elsewhere? The one about being trapped outside of Australia. And Spain let you stay? It sounds fascinating.

Continue in VScode has been great for dev. I have been using Claude. Results were really good, but recently more mixed, so now I swap between Claude 3.5 and OpenAI 4o. I find Continue does a pretty good job of keeping the context even if I swap models mid project.

Never tried Llama only bc I guessed I didn't have the hardware for it, but if you're having success on an M1 then I'll give it a go too.

When my daughter forgets to say please.

Very cool Will. Like the early days with Twitter and Tweetdeck. I'll use it!
