For my engineering master thesis I developed this super light additively manufactured orthosis for treating head deformities of children. It's customized and (from what I can tell so far) has superior fit to the established products. Pretty epic stuff in my humble opinion 🥰

Next month I'll visit the #USA for the first time in my life. Over the next few years I'll try making it my new center of life. My expectations are high and from what I can tell so far, it probably is the greatest country humanity has ever 'created'. Maybe I'll be disappointed and return to my pretty little north east Germany completely disillusioned. Let's see. The last 8 years I've been living in Rostock, a 200k city at the baltic sea, and regardless of how I'll actually like the USA .. Rostock is absolutely beautiful and puts the bar dang high.

Looks beautiful .. but admitedly my baltic sea a$$ finds the European part of the mediterranean sea sufficiently warm 😄
Couple weeks ago I clicked on some XRP tweet and since then I'm getting shown that stuff occasionally .. and admittedly I keep checking them out. It's a bit like some weird / irritating scene were u just can't look away. I mean .. I can't comprehend how anyone can hold XRP bags with conviction for years. Your speculation thesis is that central banks will buy your premined highly centralized coin to facilitate payments across different CBDCs, right? Unless you're new to cRyPTo, how can u believe in that stuff with conviction? And that's coming from someone that bought Substratum for 1,1$ in late 2017, kept 'buying the dip' and then sold it for sth like 0,1$.

I think this one is among the all time best bitcoin memes.
Yes, and especially with my little brother who is a bit of a dummy dumb dumb.
My little brother has (finally) started falling down the #Bitcoin rabbit hole. Hereby, his shock and especially his sense of urgency very much remind me of how I felt a few years ago. Along the last few months he FOMOd most his few available cash savings into #Bitcoin, as he thought 'price-eruption-lambo-time' is imminent .. afterall, now that he had (somewhat) figured out that juicy BTC is the best form of money humanity has ever touched, he is expecting the rest of the world to understand now too lol. Reminds me of how I dumped my Paypal shares in 2018, because as I started to understand what Bitcoin is, I was convinced that everyone would figure it out, adapt Bitcoin, and fiat payment providers such as Paypal would be obliterated in a matter of months .. well .. that was very much a misjudgement. But I think this sense of urgency is a quite common reaction .. and whilst u sit there in shock like "any second now people r gonna realize the stupidity & arbitrariness of a 2% inflation target" .. the majority of people DGAF lel.
Probably even more crazy is that it's possible to patent math .. as was the case with Schnorr signatures up until the patent ran out in 2008.
Travelling by train is so nice. The ride is calm, u got Wifi, zip some coffee. And I just booked the Airbnbs for my first ever US visit. Am pretty thrilled ngl.

I think Germans develop vastly above average levels of stress when it comes to getting on and off trains.

Being the editor of some fitness influencer must be rough. U roll up at work like: "Aight, time for the 10 billionth speed ramp of sb doing lateral raises"
Imagine holding government bonds instead of stacking Sats like a normal civilised human being.
My most viral #Nostr note so far 😱 flipping 85 Sats! Thanks yall. Now, I just gotta wait 1000 years and I can buy 85 Lambos.

I've been working as an engineer in a midsized orthopedics company in Germany since about 5 years. In Germany our health care system is deeply intertwined with government institutions. As far as I can see, this has at least one significant disadvantage .. and that's the enormous amount of capital misalocation / wealth destruction, due to incentive misalignment. Exemplary, my company has obtained several government funded product devlopment projects along the years. These projects usually involve several institutions (private companies and universities) coming together to apply for the fund promising to deliver a certain amount of work. From what I've seen so far .. these projects 'never' produce an actual product and enormous amounts of tax payer money are wasted in the process. In my small 4 person 'research and development department' about 30 - 50% of working hours are allocated to constructing excel files about which work was done by whom in a plausible way. Hereby, these tables are heavily .. 'optimized' .. to appease the bureaucrats that will check them for inconsistencies. I believe this to be the case everywhere and not just in my company. It appears that the business of 'securing-government-funding' results in an enormous destruction of wealth. Not out of malice but due to misaligned incentives. The company is mostly concerned about securing as much funding as possible, while getting away with the least amount of work possible. I've seen how more expensive & less suitable machines were chosen over more suitable ones, simply to meet some spending target to qualify for the fund. It also results in the creation of stuff that politicians think people want, instead of stuff that people actually want, as the company's focus is shifted from serving the customer to seducing bureaucrats.

Same. It' increasingly the case that I open Nostr unconsciously and then realize 'huh .. u just opened Nostr instead of Twitter / X ... interesting '
Basically all cultures and societies along human history eventually figured out that gold was the best form of money available. And they did so without knowing from each other. The chance for humans not figuring out that #bitcoin is by far the best form of money we've seen so far seems so ridiculously low.
I'm an engineering student and I work at an orthotics and prosthetics facility. I made this one. The shape is customised to the patient's other calve. Exactly, this one is mostly for aesthetic reasons and less for protection or functionality.
I hit the gym every 4 out of 5 days. About 1:45 h of 'heavy' weight training each time. Two 15 min bicycle rides plus cooking everyday and u basically got the time commitment of a part time job .. and I dislike it 50 % of the time .. but it's gotta be done.

When dumbbell bench pressing, lifting the weights into position ought NOT to be counted as a rep. It's the iron foreplay where u prove worthiness of the weight.
