This is one option that was discussed early on.

I think that all options should be explored NOW.

I can’t say that fast enough or loud enough. It’s annoying and a bummer I get it. I want to have a party where I celebrate and posts cats and memes too but there will be no one around to celebrate with besides bad actors if the most pressing issues aren’t addressed. Illegal content should be first to address on the list always. Outside of the box thinking and aggressive solutions will be required.

Let’s put it this way, if I’m here and if I’m talking about it…. There are thousands if not more trying to figure out how to best exploit this system for nefarious purposes.

Nostr is an opportunity to show how it can be done correctly. I can personally walk at anytime. I have no skin in the game and will lose nothing by walking.

That’s fine but I feel a deep sense of responsibility to protect the space not for myself but for those who need to speak freely globally currently and in the future.

Tossing my hands up and saying “can’t do anything about it.” would be lazy. I think that anyone who does that is larping that they want freedom because they are unwilling to do anything to protect it.

I think that it would be interesting to speak with Assange and find out what if anything he would have done differently with Wikileaks and if that would include being anon for Wikileaks.

That’s a pretty good test case along with Snowden or Ross.

I see some cases with survivors exposing powerful abusers in a similar way.

Anarchy doesn’t have any longevity unless there is a culture of personal responsibility and cultural norms.

I can mute a few users but if it was at a massive scale like 100k mutes a day, it would be unusable for most.

If the solution is to tell public figures that Nostr is usable but only if you are anon, so be it. That could be one solution.

Nostr allows for the freedom. I’m interested in the conversations surrounding how to protect the freedom now that I have it for myself and others.

If there are no police and content moderation teams (which I’m pretty ok with that’s why I’m here) then I’m willing to take personal responsibility to finding solutions even if it requires being slightly uncomfortable while finding them. It’s kind of fun thinking outside of the corporate tech box!

I’d personally like to see this work. It would be nice to show that social media can work without a boot on the throat. 😂

This is not the luxury that all have. I am a survivor advocate and when survivors step forward anonymously it’s more difficult for them to be believed especially when speaking out against the powerful and it’s already difficult for public survivors to be believed.

I was thinking about why Julian #Assange wasn’t anon while running Wikileaks last night.

Would #Wikileaks have had the impact that it had if he had been anon? If you look at the body of Wikileaks work, I believe that unfortunately it needed a public face to gain traction. I’m not saying I fully agree with or disagree with his personality etc. I’m solely speaking about Wikileaks and public traction.

What was more important? Remaining anon or exposing human rights violations and war crimes to the masses?

My favorite part of my work + my personal experiences is getting the opportunity to turn a individual like the one below into solutions for the future.

This profile has harassed myself and others, sexually harassed, impersonated and stalked me on #nostr and it’s been the perfect example of what others will face (sometimes on a massive scale) as they come over. It’s giving myself and a few of the builders an opportunity to find solutions for the future!

This type of behavior also affords the community an opportunity to decide how they will respond to these behaviors.

I’d rather it happen to me early because although this profile harassing this is like a 1 on a scale of 100 as to the type of behavior that is seen on social media apps. So everyone has a good example.

You know what’s going to be beautiful? One day a survivor will share their story on Nostr. It will be speaking out against someone in a position of power and the story will remain alive no matter what.

It’s sad looking at the entirety of the treatment of women both online and offline throughout history globally. It’s still horrific. There is still a lot of work to do.

If there is one thing that gives me hope, it’s looking at how far we’ve come. I deeply admire those who fought so that I can have rights and freedoms. I feel like the least that I could do is keep the tradition alive. I’m not going anywhere. Wild horses couldn’t drag me away. I’m down to claim my space online and keep it.

I don’t look down on anyone who leaves or goes anon. I believe that they definitely deserve the freedom to choose the path that’s best for them.

The coliseum is brutal. I’ve seen women walk away who’s voices needed to be heard. I get it, “why bother and stick around for it?” 💔
