Oh if it's on Phoenix they will open it for you, but yes you will have to open a new channel. If it were a LN node you were operating the payment would just be rejected and you'd have to open a channel yourself.

Yeah I agree. I think Vitor has been focusing too much on shiny new features and not enough on improving the usability and quality of the app.

Sure if you hate them just because you're being tribal, that's dumb. Personally I don't like Apple for similar reasons as the HW fued. Apple aggressively pursues monopolies wherever it can and I don't want to be locked in to that ecosystem. Android is a bit more open though still not ideal as it's all owned by a greedy monopolistic mega corp. I'm glad both options exist because otherwise we'd probably be getting railed by a monopoly of one or the other.

I get what you're saying though. People do get tribal about these things and it's stupid. I have my reasons for not liking Apple and Coldcard, but I don't go around dissing them everywhere.

Well I think you need to explain your position better. What is the Bitcoin ethos and how are they violating it?

As far as the fued goes I think it is legitimate. Someone dedicated to FOSS used open source software, and the creator of the software got mad that it was used to make a competitor and closed it. Instead of trying to innovate and improve to compete they tried to monopolize and went against the principles of FOSS showing they were only open source as a gimmick and didn't really believe in it. That is a legitimate beef and I'm on the side of FOSS. I hope someone comes along and tries to make a competitor to passport with their own software because that will further drive innovation between competitors.

Maybe, but the RFK account had several people confirm it was him, including Jack. Someone posted an email they had requested the campaign confirm it's him and they responded (could be faked easily). None of this is as good as RFK himself posting on Twitter or his website about it, but given that the RFK nostr account hasn't done anything since that day I don't think it's something to worry about. If it were active I think that would be another story, but I could see him doing this at the request of a friend just to humor him and then forgetting about it.

As for Obama, I hadn't heard he was on here. That seems like a stretch, I wouldn't trust that one.
