JRNL's down?! Perfect time to buy!
So, aren't Amethyst and some other clients open source projects?
I am a big Amethyst fan, and have stayed with it despite some drawbacks, but hearing that it has hidden filters does concern me.
If that is verified (I am not accusing as I have not yet personally confirmed the details) and if it is open source, I would love to see a fork of the client that would remedy the known issues.
Also as a believer in V4V, I would hope that any such fork would honor nostr:npub1gcxzte5zlkncx26j68ez60fzkvtkm9e0vrwdcvsjakxf9mu9qewqlfnj5z and company in an appropriate way for the foundational development.
My complaints are about his design philosophy which I think is too rigid. I want an app with devs that are interested in giving the user more power over their own experience, not deciding what the experience should be for them. Something like that can't be solved with a quick fork, I need a whole new app.
Can't use nostr without a client though.
I said I didn't like Amethyst anymore, so apparently the only other option is to gO mAkE yOuR oWn ClIeNt according to the replies.
I want options and customisability in an app. His design philosophy doesn't seem to allow for that. It's about time I tried some other clients anyway.
Thanks for all you've done, and keeping Amethyst open source. While I disagree with your philosophy, you are clearly a very talented designer anyway and I wish you and Amethyst continued success.
I had been wondering about the design choices you've made for the app and this post explains it. I like having a lot of control over my experience in apps and games, so Amethyst always felt too rigid. I was hoping that would change over time given that it's all still so new, I thought customizability would come eventually. I see now that's not in the cards so I will begin looking elsewhere. π§‘π«
Should be customizable. There's no number or percentage that will work for everyone.
Attack sounds a bit dramatic. I'm reporting you for being a drama queen. Just need 4 more, anyone else want to pile on?
How do we delete a report? I can't find anywhere in Amethyst that I can view and edit my own reports.
You can't even see it? It's another user's entire mute list.
What's the deal with this? It showed up in my notifications and then disappeared. I'm only able to find it again because I replied to it right away. Is it something a client sends when someone mutes you?

Probably, though there might be some staff that would be willing to be paid in Bitcoin given his positions.
I watched a documentary on him and he got extremely cynical near the end of his life. I think he eventually lost all hope for humanity. I wish he could have lived to see Bitcoin.
Do you think they actually use it too pay for things or just sell it immediately for fiat?
Oh no π±
