All of these are custodial, I'm not sure there's an easy way to receive zaps non-custodial if you don't run your own node.

Phoenix does not support LN addresses so it is not possible to use it for zaps afaik.

I'm not sure if it would be suitable for zaps anyway because the Phoenix app runs as a node on your phone, and is only online when you open it and for as long as it runs in the background. If it's not running then it's offline and I don't think you can receive anything (though I've never tested it).

I was there a few weeks ago. You will have a very hard time using only Bitcoin. I was only able to spend Bitcoin in El Zonte. Some places had signs saying they accept Bitcoin, but when I asked to pay with it they said no. At one place they tried to use the Chivo wallet and it did not work with my Phoenix wallet.

The truth is Bitcoin is not being promoted and supported very well by the government despite them making it legal tender. Most people don't want to bother with it because people that want to pay with Bitcoin are extremely rare and it's not worth the hassle. If you want to go to El Salvador I would recommend bringing lots of USD cash, especially smaller bills and dollar coins. If you're hoping to spend only Bitcoin then you will find your options extremely limited.

Most items at the grocery store that go on sale can be bought as a single item and still get the discount. Whenever I go down the chip aisle, though, the sale is always "buy 2 get 2 free". A 50% discount is very tempting, but I hate buying four fucking bags of chips at once, because with that many chips around the house I can't help but eat way more of them. I just want to satisfy a small junk food craving, not gorge myself on Doritos for a week. I know I could just pay full price for one bag, but then I feel like I'm overpaying.
