Where I live, you now get questioned by customs when *leaving* your own country.
Absurd.
Oh I'll push for self custody at any opportunity but it's pointless to ask WoS to... abandon their entire business to replicate what already exists.
Excellent self custody options already exist.
Their product is a custodial option, feel free not to use it. Those that need the convenience will use WoS instead.
Nah I think it would just be moving to a new scheme entirely with a decently long period where both are supported for people to move funds over.
You summoned me by using a sloth emoji.
Unfortunately, I'm sad to confirm that a sloth is not a monkey.
And that sloths > monkeys.
Concept NACK.
The way I've seen discussed is a move to something that is resistant to whatever advances arise (quantum resistant, whatever), with a (very) long grace period before funds secured with old keys become unspendable in a fork.

Ok.
"They're the same."
What does damus have that amethyst doesn't? Not much.
Amethyst is a joy to use now. Give it a try if you have an Android phone.
Cool. Might want to rename "User ID" to public key and display the npub somewhere in the profile page / on username hover.
They're at the core of the protocol, the ultimate ground truth for identity.
Usernames and to an extent NIP-05 are supplements and not an ID.
My problem with iris is that I don't see people's pubkeys anywhere. Weird decision.
Anxiety sucks.
No, as in I spent more on onchain fees to open channels than routing fees. Not actively rebalancing so no rebalance costs.
Not even counting hardware+internet.
I knew this going in though, it's just fun to play with. I'm sure dedicated people can squeeze some profit out.
