The best part of cleaning my workbench and putting all the tools away;

no one will know where they are, including myself when they are needed.

This list almost broke my brain, who organizes a list from west to east? Then I saw it was created by AI and it makes some sense but it makes me wonder where it scraped the data from.

I turned 41 today. Since 41 is a prime number and primes have always fascinated me, I thought I'd share some prime related information:

41 is the 13th prime number and 13 is a prime

41 is a Pythagorean prime (the long side of a right triangle with integer sides)

Today is the 221st day of the year 2023 neither 221 or 2023 are prime but 221 is the product of two primes (13 & 17) making it a biprime number

2023 is the product of three primes (7, 17, & 17) making it a triprime number and coincidently 7+17+17 = 41.

I've been married for 17 years and in my current job for 7 so all in all you could say I'm in the prime of my life.

Thank you for indulging my math geek-out.

That's true enough, but when that's all the babysitter charges so Mama and Papa can go on a date, it's hard to say no.😁

Most of the time when I read to my children I doze off and one of them has to tug on my beard, I didn't with this book because the storyline was engaging and moved along at a good pace, and there were just enough pictures to let me rest my voice before continuing on. Also, it was nice to read about a much more innocent time in a place not far from where my ancestors came from.

The kids liked the characters and setting, a family with 4 children and a dog in 1930's rural Ireland. They let me do voices which they also liked. The misadventures they get into are hilarious and are the result of childhood innocence not mean spirited like a lot of newer books.

I just finished reading "The Cottage at Bantry Bay" to my kids. I would highly recommend it as a read aloud. My 4, 6, 10, and 13 year old all loved it, the infant wasn't much of a fan but he's a bit of a barbarian.

I would not recommend attempting to read the whole book in an Irish brogue, though you might be tempted to, you'll end up hoarse for three days after. If you just stick to the dialogue your voice should recover the next day but even without the accent the kids will still enjoy it.

Can someone explain to me the argument for denominating Bitcoin in bits (.000001 BTC) vs sats (.00000001 BTC)? I can't find a logical discussion anywhere just a bombastic jerk on twitter who keeps advocating for it and want to know more.

Pro tip: don't use Little Caesars to teach your kids fractions.

I tried growing someouse melons last year and they never came up but some seed must have laid dormant because they are growing like crazy this year and I didn't plant any. They taste great pickled or just fresh.

Sometimes Fatherly Serendipity strikes...

I had just given my son his probiotic which involves pulling a gel-cap apart. When I put the bottle back in the fridge I noticed a fly that had been trapped in the fridge and was moving very slowly. I quickly but gingerly snatched up the fly and put it in the gel-cap.

At bedtime I sang the song about the old lady that swallowed the fly. As we finished I asked them how they think she managed to swallow a fly, "After all, they are very fast and hard to catch let alone swallow." After letting them think on it for a minute, I deftly produced the gel-cap from my pocket and proclaimed to their astonishment, "This is how she swallowed the fly!" The 4 and 6 year old were amazed the 10 year old was revolted, the 13 year rolled her eyes. My beautiful bride refused to play the part of the old lady.

They still don't know how I managed to get a fly into a gel-cap, as far as they know I am a wizard.

GM Slow start to the day. Enjoying the unseasonably cool weather, coffee with the baby, listening to Lauds, ignoring the messy yard. PV
