Three issues:
1. My Damus settings does not allow the app to access my photos, so I imagine this is a web view or something? Seems it could be misleading and give users a scare.
2. Attaching an image, deleting the inserted URL, and then typing makes the font change to something different.
3. I wouldn’t have expected attaching an image would upload it immediately without pressing Post.

I would just have him dive into Kotlin. There’s very few reasons to start in Java these days. It’s objectively better in all ways.
Python. I would not recommend Java ever again— Kotlin is newer, easier to learn and use, interoperable with Java, and officially supported by Google. This is coming from me who has primarily been a Java programmer for 20 years.

There’s no flaw. It’s not censorship-free. It’s censorship-resistant meaning that you are able to continue to post where people want to listen. No one is going to ban you from the internet or physically come restrain you (unless they’re an oppressive government, for example). In the same way that you’re not going to hold my ears open so that someone can shout garbage into them.
He’s free to keep posting garbage as long as his relays allow and use a different NIP-05 identifier. That does not mean all relays, clients, or NIP-05 providers have to tolerate his hate speech. Muted.
Damus deliberately does not format Markdown. It used to and was removed, I believe. Requiring clients understand Markdown adds more complexity to notes that are otherwise and arguably unnecessary.

My mother-in-law was forced to move from Ukraine to Canada one year ago, not on her own terms. It’s unclear if and when she will go back. Several of our friends also had to do the same, but to the UK. Some stayed in Ukraine because they had no choice. Many tragedies exist in this world, and this is one of them.
Childhood friend of my wife just died fighting in the war in Ukraine. He was my age. Can’t wait for this nightmare to end and the people responsible be held accountable.
