For anyone saying that AI is going to get us out of trouble with inflation because it is deflationary, apart from that being complete nonsense, govt departments are not using it, or they are wrapping so much red tape around it that it offsets any benifits it would bring. They are the ones propping up an economy and are going to do it in an inefficient way.

Organisations who embrace AI are going to get so much more efficient. The govt services our tax pays for are going to get less and less efficient in comparison.

I bet the ATO are using it though.

I was speaking to a friend yesterday who works for a company that builds wind farms. Theiy said their biggest issue was curtailing power and getting connected to the grid. I spoke to them about Bitcoin mining and how it could help.

Does anyone have any articles that talk about Bitcoin being a buyer of last resort and how it could help that are not technical or not overly focused on Bitcoin and more focused on the business model and how it is a solution?

That would be great. I am sure there are a lot of bitcoiners in Tassie. Are you on Orange Pill App? That might help finding other locals.

Thanks everyone.

The workshop is on a 20Amp circuit by the looks of it. I have plugged it and and got it running and no issues so far. I haven't left it on for any real length of time though. Hour at most.

I am thinking that I will need a sparky to come in. I got some previous work done and he had to change a breaker to be a 10amp because I have got single core cable. I don't like the thought of drawing a big load on that if it is no longer allowed a 20amp breaker.

I can turn the miner on "low" mode so it isn't drawing as much but not sure how much less it is. I need to test it. I got a wattmeter the other day so I will have a look when I get a chance.

Picked up my new toy yesterday. A S19 J Pro.

First impressions... It is heavy! Weights about 16kg. Lot more than I expected. It has two power cables. Never had that on anything before. Do I need to plug both in?

Anyone got any setup guides or videos on how to use it? My plan is to plug it in, switch it on, hope I don't blow the house electrics up, plug ethernet cable in, see what IP it gets on the network and try and connect to that in a browser.

No idea what I am doing.

This is Nina 🐮

She came to us nearly 9 months ago as a cull cow from a dairy.

They couldn't get her in calf so she was going to be removed from production.

They tried several rounds of artificial insemination and had her in with a bull at each cycle but had no success. The day before we picked her up she was seen to be serviced by a bull but they were certain it wouldn't take.

We got her really cheap with a couple of days old calves thrown in for free (these calves are removed from their mothers to ensure milk production for the dairy and were to be destroyed along with Nina)

She was putting out 20L of milk a day when we got her and at that point and the calves were a great help in sharing the milk as we started learning all about milking, care of a house cow and dairy production on the homestead.

We were told she's a moody cow at times and that she's not a particular friendly girl.

Well nostr:nprofile1qqs8v3q3nvvwc444kfmeurgrtem392wkd8dlhedjch693j6kftake9gpzamhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuurjd9kkzmpwdejhgtcq36ppy spent hours with her every day. Milking, giving her treats and lots of pats and care. Her condition improved rapidly after she arrived at our farm. She has become my favourite cow. She's sweet, loves pats, is gentle, stands calm and compliant when milking.

Well Nina did get in calf from that bull and has maintained the pregnancy really well. She's started showing early signs of calving soon so we are eagerly awaiting our first calf on the homestead.

And this will be the first calf that Nina gets to keep and mother herself.

There is lots to be excited about here at the moment.

This is fantastic. Made my day reading this!

Doesn't it get charcoal stuck to it? Do you have to clean it off or is it sitting on something?

Looking at getting a miner to play about with at home. I know it isn't going to be profitable, I am doing it more for the education.

I looking for a second hand S19. I want to go full miner rather than something like a bitaxe or appolo for a couple of reasons. 1 I have excess solar I want to use rather than giving back to the energy company for nothing. 2 I would love to look into using the heat.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

I am currently looking at a second hand S19kpro for $700

I'm back up and running. Node installed (not on a Pi this time), AlbyHub hosted locally and connected to Nostr. Feeling good!
