You work hard to find something real (i.e. wild caught, nothing added), you pay your hard earned money for whatever amount you can get (read: an arm for 3 pounds), then watch it melt, melt, melt, melt to become 30% of what it looked like before it even reaches your plate. Then you take a bite wishing it would taste like it’s worth the disappointment, but it tastes exactly like the recycling engine of the bottom of the sea. You eat it while building a narrative in your head to make it a slightly better experience and tell yourself next time you’ll just buy salmon instead.

1. Before you push yourself to work even harder, check if you’re on the right path towards the right goals. Explore, dig deep within, experiment, optimize periodically before you start building.
2. If you’re working towards the right thing, it shouldn’t be so dreadful that you would need that stupid quote framed and hung above your desk. It’s all going to be hard anywhere, it’s up to you to choose the struggle that will bring maximal joy – regardless of success, and without needing to be bullied to put more into it.
3. If no one cares, you have bigger problems. Cultivate your relationships. Happiness then success, not the other way around.
