Meh... I literally just gone back to Arch after a decade of being away.. Too fresh to the extent I am just taking a break from the headache of pointing luks to the proper uuids 😂😂😂

Before any equipment is bought, a proper measurement should be done.

It'll take time to source miners for that much energy anyway.

Ironic, you'd be literally devouring a liver. 😂

I have been doing some research and it seems that installing arch became much easier these days. Thus, removing the daunting part. Once I have things running, my needs are simple and don't need much of the bloat other distros have.

I'll keep what you said in mind, but where is the fun in having everything preconfigued? I'd go for Windows then 😁

Sooooo... I have the feeling that I want to switch my Linux distro. I have been a Linux user for about 20 years, never professionally though. Most of it has been on Ubuntu or Mint, but I have done Arch, Gentoo, Fedora, and others along the way. So, I have no fear.

I am thinking of going back to Arch, but I'm worried that not enough hardware compatibility would be there. Also, is gaming viable on Arch? Steam with Proton has been working flawlessly on Mint the past few months.

What other distros should I consider?

عنجهية وصلف لا متناهي.. الله يستر ما ينخوا الجماعة

I only got my first bitaxe miner a couple of weeks ago. While I'm still testing the waters with a measly 700 GH/s, I'm interested to grow a bit. I'm not sure I'll ever hit a PH/s, but seems to me there is a doable trek. Also, energy prices where I live are relatively low.

I have three questions:

- at what point it's reasonable to switch from pool mining to solo? Currently with viaBTC, I don't like it, but, again, I'm testing the waters.

- which leads to my second question, what would be a good strategy to pick a pool?

- how do I calculate at what hashrate I should expect a return? Given I know exactly how much energy I'm spending.

I'm thinking out loud here: My end goal is one of two, I have yet to decide:

Either make a profit, or help defending the network; or both. It will depend on how fast I ramp up my hash rate, I guess. Perhaps, break even then solo? Thoughts?

It's almost the weekend, and I need to sleep 48 hours straight

Your only problem is that you're using MacOs (I think) .. Switch to Linux.
