Ivan Makedonski from Breez about his desicion to drop out of university and the pushback from his family:

"Oh, nobody does like you. And I said 50 out of the 100 most rich people did not have that degree. So obviously people are doing what I'm doing. Just because you want me to do what you did, that doesn't mean that I want it. I'm going to pursue the stuff that I want. And that was my guiding force.

And even at some point, I kind of wanted people to tell me that this is not the right way. Because that was my signal to understand, okay, the masses are not going there. So that means that I am on the right track. So if the sheep are going there, that means that I don't like that path."

What do we learn from that? Don't follow the masses, think for yourself, and take independent decisions. It's your life, it's your responsibility. #unschooling

The fear of failing our kids...

I had a deep talk with Luba Vangelova about the fear of failing our kids, and I want to share a moment of this conversation with you:

"Until I realized, failing of what? What kind of success am I preparing him for? Is that even the #success I believe in for myself?"

It's the widely spread definition of success, that makes me cringe. Because I had "successful" moments in my #career, measured by the societal norm of success. But looking back, these were the times I felt miserable, I wasn't aligned with my own vision of life at all.

So when it comes back to what are we preparing our kids for? What are we afraid of?

And this goes out to all the #homeschooling, #unschooling, #worldschooling families - we have the right to redefine what success looks like, and act upon our own standards.

I think it's stockholm syndrome

I love the discussions about banning this and that, banning Bitcoin, banning #guns, banning, banning, banning.

"The tool itself having no moral character, and any object in the world doesn't have a moral character. So this means my knife in the kitchen I can use to butter my bread, or I can use it to slice somebody's throat. It's not the butter knife that is good or evil. It is the human actor, the moral agent, who gives an action, the moral character, whether we see it as good or evil.

And you can do this with anything with the shoes of a bank robbery, with the car to get away from the bank robbery, with the phone lines being used to blackmail people. And like any #technology, can be used for bad purposes. So this, I think, is the argument we have to push back against.

When the regulators say, oh, #Monero, #Bitcoin, whatever, it's too dangerous. We cannot let the people have it. Well, yes, it's going to be used by criminals, yeah, but it's not inherent in the tool."

"So I think getting rid of fear for me, being outside in nature disconnecting from all of that pressure, especially checking who am I spending time with?

Are there people pressuring me into being afraid, actually? Or are there people around me that are like helping me get rid of fear or talking to me about different aspects of fear and where they are coming from?

Because at the beginning, this might feel like a lie. If someone tells you, like, it's not that important that your kid doesn't learn how to read it at age six, it might feel like a lie.

But if you look behind all of that programming that is taking place at school, you can easily mentally understand, okay, this is not the way to go. And then there comes this emotional part. 💙

And I think the emotional part is way more work to go through because I think sometimes we really want to keep that emotion because we don't want to change. Because change is hard, and we're afraid of change as much as we are afraid of failing kids and these kinds of things."
