Think about that for a second. I don't know what the real inflation rate is but it's certain that the banks are losing at least 5-7% now, and swallowing the uncertainty of the next 20 years.

Makes you wonder what their real incentives are...

Price deflation under sound money is nothing more than a result of real growth in the economy that occurred in the past.

It's a thermometer, not the weather.

Twitter makes me sad every time I go there. What makes me even more sad are those people I love and respect refusing to even try nostr. They stay on twitter just being basted in hatred and negativity.

GM Nostr. I'm in a dark mood this morning.

In the US, we're staring down an presidential election where, on one hand, we have a deranged old man who can't even read a teleprompter and, on the other, a totally spoiled psychopath who thinks he's entitled to whatever he wants. The thing is, the actually agree on 99% of things behind closed doors. Keep the status quo going, keep their friends in power, take more freedom from the people.

In Europe, a union born from the horrors of two great world wars, they've been shockingly quick to forget that oppression and war always comes after you try and control speech, control flows of people and money, and force conformity. You're not "looking after the downtrodden", you're destroying the human spirit.

I never thought it could or would get to this level of state psychosis in my lifetime. I thought maybe the covid shit show might have been a turning point. A gaze into a dark abyss from which we'd recoil and start making the necessary changes. But it's clear that isn't the case. The political class continues to double down on limiting freedom, destroying livelihoods, and crushing dreams.

I really truly hope, for my kids generation, that we manage to unfuck this situation without another world war.

I'm unfortunately getting less and less optimistic about that.

Paying in cash has always been easy, fast and inherently private.

Users didn’t realize they were acting privately - they were just taking the path of least resistance.

This should be the goal with bitcoin.

Privacy should be so easy and cheap that it’s the default.

What people missed on this dystopian day yesterday: EU Ban on self hosted wallets, even for smallest amounts now voted for by the parliament.

It takes much more energy to defend a lie than protect the truth.

Using Nostr to voice a gripe and concern I have.

If I encourage people to buy bitcoin… I could get into serious trouble with the FCA.

The FCA is a bit like the SEC in the US but it’s more draconian.

I had a meeting about this and was given guidance on the matter while in the uk last week.

I don’t live in the uk but I’m still liable. I’m told the new rules are so ridiculous I have to be careful with using rocket emojis when taking about bitcoin on my socials or on youtube.

It’s heinous, ridiculous and I hate it. But the uk is ridiculous and funnily enough, I often hate it.

The uk is not a bitcoin or crypto hub nor can it be with these rules in place.
