Jazz, Freedom, Self Actualization Builder of Software, spending my entire life disproving anything I know.

An interesting trend I've noticed in the younger generation especially. (Coming from a person that tries to resist every urge to say kids these days)

Lots of young kids are only comfortable talking about liking or dedicating themselves to something only do it if there is a sense of irony attached to it. In TikTok, for example, putting out music, art, or skills in any particular domain is accompanied by a satirical tone. Like, "I'm only doing this to make fun of others that do this."

I think people are scared to put out interests for the fear of being judged by it. However, talking about your interests with a sense of irony protects you from possible criticism. It's as though there's an abundance of doing something that is posturing to the world, instead of just doing it for the sake of doing it. We should do things for the sake of doing them more.

What was that microapp for looking at event information in depth? I want to access the raw JSON payload or similar from my phone, how can I? #nostr

Oh yeah, grading is a bad system. However, writing is an excellent way to clarify and improve your thinking skills. Cheating yourself of that with chat bots is stupid in my opinion. However, the system is often seen as transactional, i produce the output for you to give me a grade or a title.

If you want to actually learn, however, writing and having that writing evaluated and receiving feedback by a person that is accomplished in the field of study you are writing about is an excellent pedagogical tool.

Arguing for using llms in that context is like saying that running a mile has no benefit because we have cars to get us there faster. It's not about the output.

The goal of writing papers for classes is not to produce the output, but to synthesize the information in your own words. The output is used to simply be a proof of the process, thats what teachers are after. I don't think synthesizing different sources and writing the output is an invalid pedagogical tool.

I'm going to put out a bit more content related to music here.

I’ve been working on nostr projects / designs for a while now and love it! I do it in my spare time pretty much as a hobby.

My main work is freelance design. It’s flexible and I go from project to project and occasionally have some longer term “upkeep” arrangements.

Naturally, when I see that there is funding available for Nostr project, I am intrigued. It would be amazing to work on Nostr in a more serious capacity besides night/ weekend tinkering.

The challenge is that grants are for individuals and prioritize development just by the nature of needing to “get things done”. I totally get it. However, as a designer, I am not sure how I would fit into that requirement because my work requires cooperation. Specifically, cooperation with developers. So, I am unsure if I can even contribute in that capacity. Do I bother applying for one? I don’t know…

While I understand that it needs to be built to even have a chance, I also believe design is required for some products to take foothold. More often than not, good products are burdened by bad design. I see a few of such products / clients out there right now, but it is not my business to explain it to them.

The startup model has an advantage in my opinion as it funds the team working on a startup and not just one or 2 developers. Teams consist of product people, developers, designers, and a jack of all trades founder who typically fills multiple roles.

Anyway, I am just putting this thought out there, to see if anyone has any thoughts about it.

And honestly, most developer heavy focused communities like this one tends to favor things like command line interfaces AS the ideal for UX. You'll need to get a team and apply as a team.

Got it! 7 minutes ago. Thanks for the enablement, i swear that's not why I posted this 😅

That's like injecting cocaine. It's bad enough to snort.

Fuck it, give all the value.

Let me try to explain what I mean:

How communication fails us

Communication is taking shared understanding, interpreting it incorrectly through the logos by the speaker and saying words. Then the receiver misinterprets the misinterpretation communicated by words also through the logos, and tries to clarify the thinking to get closer to the shared understanding both beings already had by the same flawed process.

Morning, morning Boss-triches! ☕️☀️🌸💜

Yesterday I heard a nice hack for "communication problems".

Usually everyone has their own style of communication. This is the way they exchange information with their peers, environment.

Problems occur when 2 people has totally different communication style, and one understands something totally different than the other meant. This can lead to problems.

Also we are "social-animals" and we need attention. As kids, when we need attention, we do weird things, we try our boundaries, etc. This might stay for adulthood.

Most probably everyone needs attention, and everyone has their way how they need attention. I could connect the attention with our love language. Some people like to be gifted, others like to be touched, some need quality time, etc. We might associate attention with our love language.

But the hardship comes in adulthood, when you want to let the other know you need attention, or you want to know when your partner needs attention. Somehow this is a communication problem.

Idea:

Just start to use:

I need attention.

That is it! Just communicate that you need attention.

No magic stuff to get the attention, just ask for it. It could also be helpful for kids. Teach your kids, if they need attention, just let you know. Then give them.

But be careful to give attention when seeked, because we condition ourselves through experiences. If we experience that asking for attention does not work, we will try to find other ways, and then bad communication starts again.

After quitting social media and going back, I noticed elevated heart rate when scrolling twitter, not so much here.
