coldcard and blockstream and your own node
Currently trying to figure out why I can’t pay invoices generated by my Lightning node due to, according to the failed payment message, missing RouteHints in the invoice. Any ideas what my next step might be? Thanks. Right now I’m not super convinced I’d be safe funding channels on Umbrel node without significant risk to the Sats that I put up. I really want to get versed in this technology and get it dialed so I can help others set up their own lighting nodes. Hopefully hear back from question I posed on Umbrel Community. ✌🏽
Like actually setting up ASICS in the House and the Senate chambers? Very fiscally responsible. And lots of stranded gas to tap into. Lol. JK good news.
I’m telling you, mental health starts improving the second you get away from those “dopamine hits at the expense of losing more faith in humanity”. It’s a sick place, Twitter.
Anyone notice how fast the Bank Funding Term Program got a quick name change to Bank Term Funding Program so it wouldn’t be the same acronym as Butt Fuck The People?
Beating my head against the wall trying to get basic connected wallet functionality on an Umbrel full BTC node and Lightning node on Ubuntu Linux distro. It seems like every wallet has a hurdle:
Ledger - install satstack as a final step, install fails, dead in the water. And scared the shit out of me when it deleted my Ledger accounts.
Zeus and Bluewallet: connect wallets to my Lightning node and test sending them Sats from a third Lightning wallet, and can’t pay invoices because wallet 3 can’t route payments to wallets on a private node without RouteHints compatibility.
Really trying to master this tech, but it all feels so early beta. Not sure how some people can confidently fund their Lightning channels with $5000+ worth of Sats and sleep at night.
I started on a windows box, hit tons of dead ends with LN implementation. Re-downloaded the entire blockchain 3 times breaking things. Finally abandoned Windows and switched the box to Linux. New bunch of hurdles. 50+ online tutorials and countless pages of troubleshooting guides later, not sure what’s next. It feels like the mid 90’s when my first PC sat silent for two months while I taught myself how to reinstall windows on a new hard drive.
Running a full BTC node to support the network is easy, but taking the next step to confirming my own on-chain and Lightning transactions is proving to be difficult with the limited time I have to dedicate to side projects.
Whoever just zapped me 44 Sats I fucking love you. First zap since joining Nostr! It’s going to be a good day!
Leaving Twitter a week ago after having an account for 4 months has been about as liberating as leaving Fakebook in 2005 after having an account for 4 months.

I think
You know you’ve been listening to BTC podcast rips too much when you can’t even see the word “Rugged” on a book cover without thinking about Mt. Gox, FTX, Genesis, SVB, Silvergate, etc lol.

Can’t wait for the snow to disappear in the bush in northern Alberta and get back to this:
FYI I get a weird message that your zap address is an LNURL for withdrawals only when I try zapping you some sats ✌🏽
I think so. I dropped Twitter finally. To much exposure to woke BS and your content is one thing I really miss
Here’s the document. May it send a chill down the spine of the political elite in Canada.
