Be it Bitcoin, Nostr, or SimpleX the issue I'm facing is the same

I have no one in my home country Indonesia within my circle to use them with.

No merchant in Indonesia in Jakarta that accept BTC

None of my friend use Nostr and SimpleX

Bitcoin is kind of an exception among the 3 because I believe Bitcoin will definitely succeed, predominantly because all fiat is doomed to fail anyway.

However it might be different story with chat and social media app, especially since most people don't care about data privacy and such..

Sure I'm vibing with plebs online, but offline it can feel lonely, no one that relates with me. And convincing my friend of simplex or nostr is harder than orange pilling them. At least they can agree on the problem of fiat, but not the same story with the problem of social media.

I think It's a chicken and egg problem

If bitcoin is understood and adopted by everyone, nostr adoption will be easier as everyone appreciate zap

Hence Migrating content creators from other platforms will be a challenge, because they first have to appreciate Bitcoin as value transfer. And. Zaps culture need to be big enough to be able to surpass ads revenue for content creator to want to move here.

Otherwise I feel nostr will continue to be for niche segment only

Like it or not perhaps nostr need a client that have algorithms for trending/popular post as that is the thing content creator relies on to maximize their revenue stream and continue to create content

1. not sure which one is my fave, but I like a lot of stuff, here are some of the below

1a. interaction between plebs instead of centered around some famous individual

1b. no ads

1c. zaps

1d. custom emoji to reacts

1d. censorship resistant, freedom to post whatever

1e. one account / identity to access them all (social media, blog, chat message, streaming service, podcast, marketplace, etc)

2a DMs metadatas are not private

2b. no easy way to manage list yet, at least not that I know of in amethyst

2c. can block spam but its on client side (nostr.kiwi). I hope it can be nips instead so its applied on amethyst / all client too

2d. It consume more battery and data. My own fault for using too many relay as well

As nostr is adopted by more people, we'll see more shitcoiner on nostr. It's a mixed feeling.. I want nostr to continue to be Pura Vida, but nostr growth means it will be more contaminated too..
