Exploring disruptive tech and opening eyes to its possibilities. Lifelong learner. Lifelong tinkerer.

I’m learning what makes this is platform so special is that it’s turgid with brilliant minds at the cutting edge. Developers — drop a comment for what you’re working on (and a simple explanation), and I’ll pick the most interesting and give them 150,000 sats. I’ll let this go for a few hours before choosing. Have to run for now. See you soon! Post away!

If ZBD would like to contribute to zapping the community, through themselves or through me, that is a conversation I’m willing to have. I would for more wealth to bolster additional discourse. There are some brilliant minds here. But at this time, this is all me.

If nostr:nprofile1qqsv73e7h6tndwngn3ccmc74auufpx722ldncw8rl8087hddljyw6mcpzdmhxw309ucnydewxqhrqt338gmnwdehv07p8s would like to contribute to zapping the community, through themselves or through me, that is a conversation I’m willing to have. I want to make this very clear — this is not a nostr:nprofile1qqsv73e7h6tndwngn3ccmc74auufpx722ldncw8rl8087hddljyw6mcpzdmhxw309ucnydewxqhrqt338gmnwdehv07p8s marketing stunt. No money has been exchanged between Zebedee and me. Not a single sat. This is all of my own volition.

If you don’t understand the future, you are going to fail. That’s why I’m here. I’m very pleased with the conversations on here and hope to continue.

There’s no stopping an idea whose time has come. If Nostr succeeds, there’s no stopping it. I would like to get ahead of that before that happens to find ways to implement it. That’s why I’m here — to learn.

What is the biggest hurdle Nostr faces? It’s easy to look at things through rose-colored glasses — everyone here is a massive supporter simply by using it, so there’s an inherent bias. Curious how well some can play devil’s advocate…

Permission-less and open cross-integration. For me, the big picture of nostr is how clients can talk to one another without requiring an API key. You accrue audience on one client and carry it over to the next without having to rebuild it.

You don’t need to wait to be approved to build, you just create what you’d like to see in the world and make it be a part of the global nostr network right away. The networks effects from that are pretty powerful imo.

Right now all of the platforms are segmented and you have to cross-post physically to reach different audiences. Your Twitter, Youtube, TikTok followers are in different places and most likely don’t know about each other. With nostr, they can be on separate clients but be a part of the same core following. This enables better content discovery across client types (music to social, video to social, long-form to social, social to ecommerce, ecommerce to social etc…)

Now throw in the lighter fluid aka zaps, and you have instant payments between everything and everyone. Makes transactions more fluid, faster, more satisfying and empowering (money in your hands much more quickly to circulate back into the network or into your wallet). Massive shift in exchange of value!

For merchants that means

- Faster payments to expand their business more quickly

- Closer social ties to their customers

- Faster feedback to improve offers

- A more powerful marketing engine (now instead of showing your product in one place, it can show in many).

- Targeted advertising (zapvertising - zap the people with audiences that match your customer base and they’ll see the zap comment).

Just one powerful economic engine that will keep growing and accrue value directly to people participating in it.

But honestly, we probably haven’t even scratched the surface on what use cases will be unlocked.

So Nostr appears to, at it’s core, shine with sovereign data. It’s pretty intriguing. Still wrapping my head around it. For all the futurists out there, especially you Nostr folks, what do you see sticking around 10 years from now? What implementations will consequentially change the world? Give it to me straight and simple. ELI5 it. Looking to spotlight some top insights.

It is! Glad to have learned about your work. Excited to see what you come up with. Zap!

Client fragmentation and lack of “killer” UX holds it back. Not to say that makes it a death sentence — it just needs work. I’ve spent years putting customers first, and it’s what I think leads to success in every arena. Just like the cypherpunks during my time, developers now *sometimes* tend to be shortsighted in thinking about the end-user.

That’s exactly why I’m here to soak up eveyrtbung I can

Zapped you! What are your favorite implementations? Some pretty big pie in the sky ideas here, but I’m intrigued.

Nostr is slow, buggy, and not ready for prime time. But it’s the most fascinating application of public relays I’ve seen. Reminds me of the late 80s… right before the Internet changed everything.
