Prediction for the next year in #Bitcoin:

• We will have a healthy pullback from this short run

• People w/ BDS will tweet "See! It CrAsHeS!"

• It'll calm down, start a slow climb, & then rocket up again

• BDS-ers will scream "BuBbLE!!" for the 173rd time

• It'll have a healthy pullback

• Rinse and repeat as #Bitcoin climbs into the multiple hundreds of thousands

• BDS-ers will get increasingly insane and frantic, "IT DOES NOTHING!" "NO UTILITY!" "THIS IS SO DANGEROUS TO OUR ECONOMY!" "SOMEBODY DO SOMETHING!"

• There will finally be another very needed and prolonged correction down to a level about twice the previous ATH

• As we find a stable price in the low to mid $100K, the BDS-ers will claim victory and constantly say "I told you so."

• Bitcoiners will keep building, keep stacking sats, keep using it as their money, and keep watching things get cheaper as priced in #Bitcoin

... and in another couple of years we will do this all over again... AGAIN... just adding another zero to the price.

IMHO, Bitcoin going into the system as a ‘victory’ for the system is just the Trojan horse playing out.

Folks that need greater privacy have ramps between privacy coins like monero, and bitcoin, and there are newer developments (such as FROST) that provide greater privacy as well. The only way that fiat can be destroyed is by it infecting the system and making it eat itself from inside out.

This retest of 60% dominance is the REAL signal I’d say! #Bitcoin

We’re all getting chairs!

Synonym was founded roughly 4.5 years ago, before Nostr existed, with a vision & designs for a (bitcoin) key-based identity solution, which we openly shared with many (some nostr) people, including interesting ways you could make use & make something like (nostr) this way. (Keybase was also before many of us fwiw)

Decentralized, key-based web & identity solutions have always been part of Synonym's "atomic economy" ecosystem vision.

(...Side note: some aspects of the upcoming Pubky App, related to Semantic Social Graphs, social tagging, being your own algorithm, etc, come from designs I have had for more than 12(?) years...)

At first, we attempted to map this vision & requirements onto the Hypercore(Holepunch/Pear) system. Synonym had just become part of the Tether & Bitfinex family, and the hyper features and demos were amazing. That project was called Slashtags, and while we demonstrated more interesting use cases, people were already opting to make similar features within Nostr apps, which had some nice attention-grabbing events and gaining big momentum, while we were still doing R&D and realizing that Hypercore was overkill for our actual requirements, and this was also when Synonym started enforcing a policy of not having experimental (non-production-ready) dependencies from external teams.

If it is risky and novel, we need to be the ones building it. Nothing else is good enough... (until it is obviously good enough, in production.)

We eventually clarified our identity & web requirements and began new research on the simplest way to achieve our goals and design.

We entirely archived Slashtags as a project, which had trademark issues anyway, and began specifying, and building what is now Pubky Core, along with the upcoming Pubky App.

This work includes PKARR and the concept of using Mainline DHT as the primary routing network for self-sovereign keys as domains.

This work was also shared openly and directly with Nostr people roughly a year ago, but was rejected then, and also newly rejected directly when we formally released everything in Pubky Core recently.

These releases and plans represent major milestones in a long-term vision and plan for Synonym to create our vision for a minimum set of software and services for people to opt out of dependency on Big Banks, Big Tech, and Big States.

The Atomic Economy is an actual vision and plan for a functional independent digital ecosystem, economy, and society. Yeah, it's crazy, overly ambitious, naive, etc, but we have been given this opportunity and you can be damned sure I will make the most of it.

Sometimes we have had to mutate and discard our research, but it has made our team and public releases much better for having the experience.

So, we offer Pubky as the next major puzzle piece in our vision, and really the most important part, but we have so much more work to do, and so many more ways we intend to demonstrate the elegance and power of being so selective with our designs.

I’ve been thinking more about this

I remember when Trump picked Vance to be his VP. Liberals and liberal media scoffed at this, saying he was a goober, only leans more into MAGA and wouldn’t help Trump diversify his voter base to get to 270.

What they all missed, and even myself to some degree, was Trump’s team already knew their message and tactic — America first, fighting against political* and globalist* elites, and speaking to an angry, mobilized working and middle class.

Their genius quite honestly is that they weren’t trying to get every American to vote for them. They knew a lot of the country hates them. They were shooting for 60%.

Democrats water down the message soooo much tryin to put out generic bullshit to reach every single American. Instead, a campaign that shoots for energizing a strong and might base and pursuing hard 60% of the vote, while the other 40% may hate them, is a winning strategy.

Bernie has been largely calling progressives to get back to this strategy - let’s get 60% fucking amped and fired up, and 40% (elites, haters, whoever) may hate us but you know what, that 60% is gonna show up ready to go and win.

It’s A strategy, and could be the wrong one. But for Trump, it was a winning strategy, even in the face of the most hostile media and global establishment pushback ever.

I respectfully disagree. Any technology is a product of a specific sub-culture or civilization, but after being invented it gains its own life, independent from the intentions and purpose of its inventors.

I had a nightmare last night where I was explaining to a family friend why solana was retarded, and they just kept retorting with, “but it’s got crypto” like that scene from idiocracy.

It was terrifying.

I literally don’t care how it gets done. Let’s just find a way to do it. Government, private, nonprofit, whatever combo. This is what represents a strong progressive platform in America

- higher, livable wages

- access to great healthcare

- worker protections and 4 day work weeks

- account for AI and if UBI is needed and to what extent

- freedom of speech and more freedoms in general, including privacy, financial freedom, pro-choice, etc

- legalize marijauna and psychedelics

- anti-war. End forever wars

- a bitcoin friendly environment and encourage Bitcoin for workers, pensions, etc. tackle affordability head on

- separate church and state money and state

- overturn citizens united, get money out of politics

- take climate change seriously

That’s just a start.

Bitcoin is first and foremost a technology, therefore a tool. Then it's up to who use this tool and for what.

If there's a government in the equation it has always been a choice between two statist 'evils': fight (ban) it or co-opt (regulate) it.

That said from a technological soft-determinism perspective Bitcoin is decentralization-biased/oriented instead of Fiat-paper Money tech (clearly a centralized/centralizer one)
