What’s the capital of Peru?

Big thing. #GardenStr #BigThingstr

Also assuming you mean the graphics program and not some poor bloke locked in a cupboard…

I try, pretty rubbish with it though.

It's interesting but I must admit I am sceptical just based on the speed at which electrons tend to travel but I can't see it doing any harm... Also the only real info I have to go on, with regards to the benefits, was a single podcast with quite an obscure expert. I'll still walk to the shed barefoot though, it helps cool my feet!

Ah that would make sense with just a conductor on the earth pin. I still think touching a copper pipe would be just as effective.

We have a little yard at the back of our house with my shed, I often walk to it barefoot, wondering if it’s helping but I’ve no way of telling. I have some good days, some bad but don’t notice any correlation.

Probably a more effective method in the city with no easy access to land, touching a copper water pipe should be enough to discharge any static build up. I’m not sure how a sheet would do it, especially if it has no path to earth itself.

I have realized overtime since switching from Twitter primarily to Nostr, I have realized that really all traditional social media has the same vibe, ā€œLike me, follow me, Buy my course, Ect.ā€ When I was on X and first came to Nostr, I was stuck in this mentality, really wanted people to notice/like me and was desperate for attention. I tried this approach on Twitter for a while but although I had 2000+ follows on there (most bots) I got no attention and everyone ignored me, except one user I was kinda friends with, don’t know what happened to them now anyway.

When I switched to Nostr I again tried this same approach, wanted to get attention any way I could, it was bad and I did many things that came across spammy and annoying and it really hurt the trust the community had in me.

Many people called me out and honestly most of them were right in doing so, some are my friends now today and some still call me out. That’s their call and business and I don’t have a problem with them.

The reason I am saying this isn’t to try to get attention, the reason I am saying this is because I have noticed Nostr slowly adopting these same practices largely like X, and I don’t want that to happen.

Nostr should not and is not meant to be a place to farm engagement, it’s supposed to be a decentralized place for people to share their ideas and thoughts with each other.

So please new Nostr users, don’t do what I did. Build genuine connections with people and share your passions, and you will find your tribe.

That’s it, love this place. šŸ¶ā¤ļø

Nice read, it’s pretty human to want to be liked…. Although not something I’m particularly good at. I’ve been less active here lately as real life has been completely kicking my arse but been into the whole Indie Web vibe for about 6 years now. A better internet is possible and Nostr is a solid part of that ecosystem. Personally I think smaller online communities function better, the ā€˜global town square’ vibe never resonated with me but sure some people really dig it.

Nothing particularly cool or insightful to add, you just always strike me as a nice doggo!

Grounding as in electrical ground? Sounds pretty scammy to me. Feet on ground is usually a good path to earth.

To be honest I’m confused by some of the grounding ā€˜theory’ I’ve heard. I’m my experience electrical charge is pretty efficient at finding its way to ground. Did you ever see slow lightning? Electrons are fast.

Unless you mean something else? Apologies if misunderstood.

Ahh so you want an iPod then….

To be honest I’d quite like a small phone sized computer without texts and phone as well but that’s a different product really.
