Cannot code but want to verify and contribute? Try these suggestions. #coding #code #opensource
You can do a lot in open source even if you cannot code.
First use the open source software witthout looking at every line of code is perfectly fine. Others who can verify the code will do so and write articles in plain language about what they find.
Second do what you can such as verifying signatures when downloading the software. Look to see if the code is accessable online. See if the code is being maintained. See if there are several unsolved issues for the project. Try to follow the steps to build the software. Tell the community about issues you experience. Write about how to use the software and how to improve it.
Finally, encourage others to use the software and check the code themselves if they are able.

#bitcoin
It happens every time.
Mostly everyone I'm following is for news or memes about bitcoin.
The last time I used Fig was serveral years ago. Fig used to be the name of docker compose.
Please sir, can I have some more bitcoin art?
I don't know the difference between the bips. The proposals allow bitcoin to have many other "side chains" which could do anything any shitcoin can do.
The main argument for is to bring all the shitcoins on bitcoin.
The main argument against is it is too risky messing with changes to bitcoin which aren't needed or at least very popular with few to no opponents.
More regulations around trade which nobody knows or can understand. When will the madness end?
I don't know. I guess thats the advantage of using a client which doesn't rely on a webserver like #amethyst doesn't.
Does anyone know why silent.link is down and when it come back?
#asknostr
No problem. I forgot to mention this resource as well. https://bitcoiner.guide/node/
No, you can run a bitcoin node and connect other software to the node like Sparrow, Bisq or JoinMarket.
What many people do is run an Electrum server like Electrs so they can connect to Electrs with Sparrow or Electrum.
Looking into how Sparrow works would probably be the easiest way to get started. Sparrow can connect to Bitcoin core or Electrum Server I think.
There are some companies which make it easier to run a node like Start9. I have never used there product but I have heard good reviews. https://start9.com/
I like Nix-bitcoin but it is much more technical than many other projects from what I have heard.
Running your own node gives you better privacy and allows you to run layer two protocols like lightning without relying on a third party.
I think it is worth doing if you are interested in being more private and self sovereign with your bitcoin usage.
It can be a technical and frustrating project to maintain a node at times but I recommend at least trying if you are interested and willing to learn.
2768 is how much I tipped you. A sat for every step!
I have never used LNDg.
Charge-lnd should be able to handle most simple channel changes based on many different conditions. The policy file takes some getting used to but there are some good examples. A dry run can be executed to see what changes the script will make before they are actually put into place.
Like this. Somewhat organised on GraphineOS

I have been hearing about LNC and it sounds cool! Unfortunately, nix-bitcoin doesn't integrate `litd` yet.
Read You syncs with a couple of self hosted options.

Nextcloud has News plugin. I'm not sure how well it integrates with Android. https://github.com/nextcloud/news-android
Jack basically explains how bitcoiners change a country from the inside out, NGU or not. ☀
Perhaps install Zeus for a general wallet for Alby.
I never thought about sending from #amethyst before.
I think you could post an invoice into your DMs and pay it. I'm about to try.
What is the lightning node for?
If you want to use the node then create channels to the nodes you want to spend with like The Bitcoin Company for example.
If just for learning then perhaps setup an account with LightningNetwork.plus and find other peers to create channels with.
Amboss.space can also be used to sell liquidity with there Magma service.
