You want proportionality in defense. If someone sends in 12 soldiers in a border raid, are you going to murder 5 million people in retaliation?

Also, you need to be able to defend against pirates for open seas... nukes don't help there.

My competition gets 60% every time it hits my tx floor. The higher the floor, the more it gets hit.
over time, I lose market share to my competition by directly funding them.
If I have 51%, I can steal their blocks.

If you think it through, it's not profitable if you don't have a cartel. You're just funding your competitors.
This mechanism, when boiled down, just transfers money from naive degens to hodlers. I don't see why we would want to stop that.
