Just some random person on the internet.

I'm not all that knowledgeable about the programming side of NIPs but I still figured I should look through some of the NIPs and at least try to figure out what they are supposed to do. I was looking through NIP-02 and was wondering, is that basically the profile? Stuff like a display name that most clients would use to identify a pubkey in a search? #asknostr

I would disagree that NIP-05 = verification at this point. There are a bunch of sites that offer free NIP-05 addresses, clients that create a NIP-05 address when creating a new private key, and at this point, the average non-technical person sees NIP-05 as just a Human-Readable Identifier.

Writing a random note for no particular reason.

Ya know... There are a lot of different books out there, both modern and historical. I did not expect one of those to be a descriptive catalogue of London's whores from the 18th century. And it is... interesting... to say the least.

When you actually think about, it's still quite possible to create a siloed experience on nostr. Not something I actually want to see done, but still very much possible.

Yep. The average person still thinks that bitcoin=scam. So when someone like that joins nostr and sees that the overwhelmingly dominant topic is bitcoin they nope the fuck out. A drum I've been beating for a while now is the need to have some clients that don't have bitcoin/lightning integration and relays that have a "No Bitcoin" policy. At least that is a possible solution that I think could work.

Yep. As much as I hate to say it, nostr needs clients the don't integrate zaps, and relays with a "no bitcoin" policy. And when those start to appear we need people to create an on-boarding experience centered on those clients and relays. Once that sector of nostr becomes popular enough we can start evangelizing bitcoin RESPECTFULLY to those people and hope they see the light.

Yep! People think that all cryptocurrencies, including bitcoin is a scam. So when they see that nostr mostly bitcoin talk they will completely nope the fuck out. I also think the average person will have a hard time wrapping their head around how nostr and key pairs work.

I no longer need an invite. Another kind nostritch was able to spare me one of their invites.

Thank you for putting these out there! I snagged the first code.

Odd... One of the people I follow isn't showing up in my Primal followers feed. Any idea as to why that may be nostr:npub16c0nh3dnadzqpm76uctf5hqhe2lny344zsmpm6feee9p5rdxaa9q586nvr? #asknostr

I'll bite. Been looking to poke around that place for a while now.

Bluesky is not decentralized! It can't be by definition because there is currently only a single instance.

Weird, all my relays got removed. At least it's an easy fix.
