True, but it can't be worse than email, or can it? πŸ˜„

I really don't know - my reputation is to be stupid 🀣 - but we already use the same address format (at least with nip-05), and we already can send money to these addresses, not only text.*

Lightning is there, so in a theoretical hyperbitcoinized future my electricity company could send me a lightning bill embedded directly, and things like that.

* Shameless pluck: Want a free #nostr and vanity #lightning address? Be my guest at zaps.lol

And just to get that out of the way, in case anybody think about this: I would never ever support a "clear name policy" or so other BS the corpo networks try to keep their users on bay. In my experience, even if you are a nym there is a reputation to lose (or to gain lol). And during my last years here I realized this is enough social pressure for most to stay reasonable. If not, I block them and carry on.

I think so too - coming from Twitter, no edits also meant a bit of "getting used to" for me personally. But I think it's worth getting used to as laid out to a) make #nostr more than just a niche twitter replacement but a new universal communication protocol

and b) just improve discussion culture In general. I think people think less about what they write and what impact it has on others when they can always revert and change history.

I don't know how NIPs are realised tbh, not deep enough into the process. Sure anyone can implement stuff I guess, but other clients and also relays have to support that. So I guess in the end it's about which version/fork has the most users.

All I can do is push out my thoughts and hope devs and users alike consider them.

This discussion is around since at least two years here I think πŸ˜… but I increasingly see it again these days.

I get it that it's unusual for newbies, been there myself. But hey, everyone else here also has to live with their typos, too.

Just shows me who's human and who's a bot 😁

Ok, last addendum.

The email comparison might sound funny to some but I think it's worth thinking about it for a sec. Why is email, this horrible, unsafe thing still alive?

And would you like to receive your bills, contracts and so on via Facebook, X, etc where the company can just edit these documents after they sent them?

#nostr could replace social media AND #email

#noedits

The first email was sent in 1971.

This ancient protocol still is vital for businesses and other "serious" communication around the world to this day.

Why?

No edits.

One of my all-time favs πŸ’œ

Just my opinion: the downside is massive. Being able to edit means anyone at any time can reverse anything they said. Not a basis for discussion imho. To me this is the same as a blockchain that can be rolled back.

Aaand I personally don't care about typos as long as I can read it. Nobody is typo-free and truth > perfection

Another clear night. Orion's Belt, Aldebaran, Beteigeuze, Jupiter. All them frens are greeting me. #stargazing #nightsky

I might regret every 2nd note, but I'll still die on this hill: No edits.

This is a #nostr USP to me. Keep the nostr truthy.

Watch Kubrick's 2001.

Go to a Beach House concert.

I ain't no penis butter scientist, but afaik "buttering" is a time consuming process. That's all I'm gonna say. πŸ˜‚
