Does not getting out of the van other than to get someone’s bags at the airport count as going to Vegas? That’s my only time there. It was after dark though and when they found out I had never been they took the long way so I could see the strip lit up.
Felt this. You really should have seen it 10 years ago. Though it’s closer to 20 at this point.
Scarcity. Either we can all be equally screwed or people with more access to resources, however they got that access, have it better than everyone else. That is it. The two options.
I miss the sheriff we had my first 26 years. Back when the department was mostly hands off with people. Then the feds come in and arrested him for corruption. I mean. He was. That wasn’t their business though. I guess all good things must end. Sure he was taking bribes but what’s a campaign contribution here and there between a sheriff and his constituents.
Is there a Gell-Mann amnesia equivalent for government? Where people will see their elected officials doing something reprehensible over there but then suddenly trust their motives on any other government program?
Of course if they do take it that far they’d also be on the hook to pay for the guards.
Indentured servitude. The stolen money is gone? The thief better get to work. Not got to prison. Working to pay back the principle amount stolen plus interest. A lot of interest. On a chain gang at gun point if they refuse to work for garnished wages.
Now I feel sorry for the Devil’s wife.

On the opposite end of the spectrum my mother was born overseas when my grandfather was stationed abroad. Fast forward half a century and suddenly she’s getting requests to prove her citizenship. It was a whole thing for several months.
Coworker: are you related to those Drafts’ over in Saluda County?
Me: different branch of the family but yeah.
Coworker: they’re all trouble makers.
Me: rule of thumb, if their last name is Drafts they probably a trouble maker.
Coworker:…
Me: just being honest.
Went to Kitty Hawk a couple of years ago. Took a picture standing at the marker for the start of the flights with a monument marking the landing point of each flight.

I’m a 90s kid. Most of my experience at pizza hut came in the 5th grade when our teachers would take the 6-7 best readers that month to Pizza Hut after school. Got to go pretty much every month. Not out of the whole 5th grade. Just the two class rooms that swapped teachers part of the way through each day. Good times.
That’s government for you. Even in the future apparently.
Just finished my two weeks on day shift headed into my two weeks on night shift so I’ll be opposites. It’s funny at shift change to say good morning when it’s good night for the other person. We all do it.
Some of them are jewish. Some of them aren’t. Don’t much care about their ethnicity one way or the other.
The central bankers. The real fascists. A private company created by government charter whose chairmans are appointed by the government and which enjoys a government granted monopoly. The economic system of fascism I mean. Not the concentration camps everyone pictures in their head when they hear the word fascism.
Pretty much. The little guys on both sides. Like always.
