Posting on this topic / reposting as reminder because the US Congress just screwed bitcoiners while California Legislature once again ramrodded forward a bill to plot seizure of bitcoin and other digital assets. There has also been a court case in California recently where CA decides it's going after self-custodial wallets and people acting in some capacity to engage in a governance decision. Pretty soon the only way you will be able to have your own assets free from arbitrary government seizure will be either a network of secret locations around the world that you manage for multi signature keys for any transaction, or, deep space custody where your assets are effectively vaulted (created in low earth orbit and never leaving there). No other method will be sufficient although everyone will need trusts, will and corporate entities to help keep digital assets out of the hands of the State.

How is this surprising?

Many years ago under different administration(s) anyone could have asked, based on whatever the then current level of U.S. national debt to GDP, what year did they think the federal government of the U.S.A. might end up at around 120 percent, ending up numerically where Greece was at in 2008 when PIMCO pulled the plug on investments? That is, when people in Greece were starving and jumping off buildings? Granted that is NOT what is happening now in many parts of the USA (though in some parts people are economically disadvantaged, starving, in communities with serious addiction problems, etc).

But my point is we didn't ask this sort of question enough. Four years ago, per Trading Economics said, “Government Debt to GDP in the United States is expected to reach 120.00 percent by the end of 2020, according to Trading Economics global macro models and analysts expectations. In the long-term, the United States Gross Federal Debt to GDP is projected to trend around 125.00 percent in 2021 and 122.00 percent in 2022, according to our econometric models.” But it turned out those figures were too optimistic! We exceeded those figures before then. Look at the money printing machine go!

The United States recorded a Government Debt to GDP of 124.30 percent of the country's Gross Domestic Product in 2024. It's only going up from here, along with the overall M2 and the value of bitcoin.

My dad went in to the doc recently to get a cancerous tumor operated out. The surgery went well but we were on edge wondering what would happen. Several days after the surgery they sent him home. Sigh of relief. But now am getting a flood of texts just a day after he got home, he's now headed back to the hospital, pain in the stomach and throwing up. I know nobody likes cancer but man I really, really hate it right now.

Why is my WoT score 0? Have I said or done bad things or is there something I need to do to get it slightly above 0? Asking for myself.

But if one's mind is never used to cut through bad ideas to find the good ones, the mind will rust and become duller without even being used. Cut with the mind, and keep the knives clean.

"the assholes at Vultr" - I mean that does kind of say it all. But also, Apple, because they will ban anything.

What do you think the best way is for Nostr and Lightning things to be found everywhere? Rephrasing. Not the best way, some of the best possible ways, like the top two or three that come to mind and just make the most sense?

The State, vs #bitcoin - if people are choosing the former to vote for, isn't this just an example of natural selection? If the actions of the State / different countries are so extreme that what results are not only an abundance of violent conflict but also the most innovative people leaving certain countries and regions (and even migrating away from earthbound jurisdictions into outer space, similar to Blockstream's method) then that's just the logical end result of smarter choices to migrate away from massively unstable systems and stupid people with too much power.
