I don’t get it. Bitcoin’s definition prevents more than 21 million BTC from being created. Why does it matter that the minimum transaction amount is 10^-8 BTC (1 satoshi), and not 1 BTC? (As for millisatoshis, we can imagine them but we can’t write a 1 msat transaction to the blockchain.)

Governments are also excited about the prospect of setting negative interest rates, although I think that would be difficult to pull off so long as there are alternatives to CBDCs.

Bob is rude to Alice. Alice writes an article in Newsweek. Should Alice send a message to every newsstand asking them not to sell her issue to Bob, and hope everyone gets the message and no one ignores it? Or should she accept that she can’t control who reads what she publishes, and just tell Newsweek not to forward letters from Bob to her?

Isn’t the important thing to be able to prevent a blocker from seeing the blocked’s notes?

A read-only view minus the blocker’s direct messages, of course.

I don’t think there’s any point to that. Notes are public, and the blocked user would be able to get around the block with a new key. In fact, he could put the blocker’s public key into a client and get a read-only view of Nostr from the blocker’s perspective.
