ecash

I think I figured it out. bitcoin maxis have reached the point where they think it's a good idea to make bitcoin as retard proof as possible, even if it means stripping off almost all the benefits, so that they can get more people to buy bitcoin. the privacy thing is just an excuse to sell ruggable bitcoin to unsuspecting idiots. bitcoin maxis just want more people to buy bitcoin after they do and they don't care what it takes to make that happen.
who is ecash even for? you like bitcoin but you don't like the only things that make it special, so you'll "use" it in some convoluted way that removes all the special qualities? I just don't get it. why would anyone want this?
I find it so strange that these people all use their faces on their profile picture. they think they are indestructible.
there is something I didn't like that satoshi did and it's not talked about a lot. I don't like halvings. it's a big jump and it causes a lot of disturbance. he could not have had any meaningful insight into what would happen if bitcoin's market cap is big and its hashrate is high and there is a halving. I wish that he had made the emission curve more smooth with the reward adjusting each block instead of just cutting it in half every once in a while.
L2 blocks are compressed into proofs. a sequencer inserts the proofs into L1 and the state of a smart contract on L1 is transitioned. a few rollups have worked out an escape hatch so that users can retrieve funds if the sequencer dies, and the sequencer cannot steal anyone's money. but we still don't have an implementation for a decentralized sequencer. a rollup with an escape hatch is better than a sidechain, but finishing the decentralized sequencer would make it perfect.
rollups are the most popular L2 scaling solution. there is only one out of the top ten rollups that has less money in it than lightning. a few teams are working on implementing rollups on bitcoin. the implementations won't require bitcoin to have a fork.
it is theoretically possible to own money on L2 without owning a UTXO on L1, using rollups. this approach has not been completed yet, but I wouldn't dismiss the possibility. owning a UTXO and going to a custodian is a false choice.
I would bet that bitcoin UTXOs worth $50 or less have become unspendable due to fees at least as often as the solana network has gone down
ETFs now hold almost 5% of total BTC supply. the future is bright. someday they will hold 200%. much decentralization. very wow.
people constantly made an argument during the blocksize wars stating "we can't go to 1 TB blocksize by next tuesday so let's not do a blocksize increase at all." it was a stupid thing to say
nostr is about as decentralized as the lying notwork
bitcoin maxis want a monopoly on freedom and will happily accept it from anyone
WireGuard or OpenVPN?
Any recommendations? Deeper thoughts regarding security and privacy? nostr:npub14slk4lshtylkrqg9z0dvng09gn58h88frvnax7uga3v0h25szj4qzjt5d6
plugging wireproxy. great way to split tunnel if your application can do socks5
the difference between a hard cap and a small amount of tail emission is negligible and doesn't affect anything in real life
>gee maybe lightning sucks ass
>let's duct tape it to liquid to make it more gooder
>nah let's just use liquid
congrats, you are now where ETH was a few years ago
lightning = raiden. bullshit that doesn't work, just leave it on the side of the road and move on.
liquid and rootstock = polygon pos and gnosis. still not good enough but will hold you over for a while.
BOB, sovyrn, citrea = arbitrum, optimism, zksync. still not fully complete. you wasted too much time on lightning when the sequencer code needs more attention. bringing rollups up to stage 2 will be easier than fixing all the intractable flaws in lightning.

I've said it a million times. nobody has a finished rollup yet. the development comes in stages. at stage 2 there are no more training wheels. it's meant to be completely trustless at stage 2 and until then stage 1 rollups still have escape hatches so your funds cannot be stolen or blocked from withdrawal. and the design would not coerce people into using custodians like lightning does because it doesn't use payment channels. rollups are a better foundation than payment channels.
