Yep, I feel the same way. I understand it's such a focus it can be overwhelming for new folks who aren't maxis. But we can't filter shit for people.
If people really want more non-BTC content on Nostr, they should post more of it. It's not up to us to decide what a new user sees.
Not at all non-bitcoin and certainly not non-nostr since we are on and promoting nostr.....
But here's a list of folks who talk about homesteading, gardening, self reliance etc.....and bitcoin. On Nostr.
You can't protect a new user from nostr while also purple-pilling them. But I am with you on promoting content that isn't all bitcoin to give them something to work with.
I get where he's coming from, since bitcoiners can be difficult to understand or intimidating for non-plebs. But it's also kinda dangerous to nanny or shelter people too much.
I think a good "ease-in" approach for folks would be listr lists of folks that publish lots of content unrelated to bitcoin as a recommendation for folks to follow. So not excluding bitcoin content, but giving the fresh folks something to interact with they understand. Otherwise many will just check-out.
I still want the option to switch on https. I like the options of Umbrel over Start9. Nothing is perfect, I know π
Yep, it's a tricky balance to give a granular choice to users without making the UI clunky and cluttered. I want more refined control, but many don't and won't care.
π Yeah, but you might end up with indigestion
I have questions!
Do I have to pay extra for the ass shots while they check out my eyes?
If they use said pics for non-medical purposes, do I get royalties?
Is there a significant risk of contracting pinkeye at this facility?
If your rectum is green you should be seeing a proctologist, not an optometrist π
And if you fork your enemy, don't expect to eat soup?
Where are the people that were designing a full-on web of trust architecture on Nostr? They messaged me a couple of months ago but I cannot find them anywhere. I hope they didn't get discouraged from implementing it.
They had some cool ideas to individually declare levels of trust in Nostr. For instance, I would trust nostr:npub1qny3tkh0acurzla8x3zy4nhrjz5zd8l9sy9jys09umwng00manysew95gx to help me choose my hardware wallet, but not my vegetables.
We are getting to a point where that level of detail can actually be helpful.
Definitely! This came up in Nests yesterday, there are people who I certainly trust for recommendations on who to follow, but not necessarily who to mute. And visa versa! Social networks are infinitely complex, and there are no easy answers here π€
